  1. I couldn't justify the old fee. Instead of spending time trying to figure out some statement credits, I'm capable of booking an air and hotel vacation for less than that. https://www.cnbc.com/select/amex-platinum-card-2025-changes
  2. This reminds me of passengers waiting in line for the American Express Lounge at SFO. I'm sitting with the peasants at a gate across from it. I'm OK with peasant seating. Why pay to wait to get in?
  3. If they pay in full the APR doesn't matter. I used to have a collection of gas cards but all but one got closed for non use. The only exception is a Shell card I had that got converted to a generic Citibank MasterCard. I still use that once in a while to keep it active.
  4. That's what Chrome is telling me. I live dangerously. I proceeded anyway.
  5. This forum is the most active, so it's good to be drunk. 🥴
  6. I'm thinking they'll combine them all under a Capital One/Discover name. I have both brands too plus checking/debit cards with them. Combining operations always saves money and costs some employees their jobs.

  8. I have three Amexs. One got a D. The other was too late, and got a D-. My first Amex is even older. 😉
  9. The last time I was in NYC was just before the pandemic. Next time I go it's steakhouse time. Dental work should be complete on December 13th. I'm thinking of a short trip up to S.F. -- House of Prime Rib. McRib is coming back for the holidays in my part of the world (L.A.). I'll need to make my annual pilgrimage.
  10. I just found out this restaurant issues their own credit card. It must be paid in full each month. I'm unaware of another restaurant with their own card. Their New York locations don't take other credit cards, but they do take U.S. debit cards. I'm thinking of printing and mailing in the application. A novelty card. I doubt it reports to the credit bureaus unless you decide not to pay for your steak dinner. My idea of fine dining is when McDonald's has McRib. Actually, I'm thinking of going to House of Prime Rib in San Francisco, but that needs to wait a few weeks until I'm done with some dental work. Nice choppers are a must for that. https://peterluger.com
  11. I always rotate through my credit cards every three or four months to keep them active. Often I just add $5 to my Amazon gift card balance that I'll eventually use. The worst that has happened to me is a large credit line has been reduced because I haven't been utilizing it. This is very rare and hasn't happened with my Capital One account. Since your credit line is only $600, there really isn't room to reduce it. My suggestion is buy a pencil then immediately pay it off.
  12. Both my credit lines were cut to a thousand dollar amount plus about $19 like you too. Barclays sent me an email this week asking on a scale of 0 to 10 how likely am I to recommend Barclays to a friend. I answered zero. The survey then asked why a zero. I just said it's for chopping credit lines by 71% with no warning.
  13. Barclays notified me my second card also got the axe. $10,000 down to $3,000. It's for the same reason (I've not been utilizing much of my credit line). No biggie. I'm certainly not going to request an increase and end up with a hard inquiry. I'll live.
  14. This card is from the 90's. A long time. Buying a Big Mac on it every three months wasn't enough to keep the limit.
  15. I got a letter in the mail yesterday saying my limit was reduced because I wasn't using much of it. The letter did say I can get the limit reinstated by applying for an increase online within 60 days. I'm not going to bother. I can live with $5K.
