Elite711 if you disputed online just recently already, you have too wait another 30 days too dispute online again for Transunion. Im waiting until Nov 3 too dispute the last 3 baddies on my Transunion credit report and hopefully get my theses baddies due too come off in april Patience is a virtue :stop:

I agree patience is virtue . TU does give me the option to dispute online , just not the option/ comment To old to report option) this same account is scheduled to come off from my EX 01/2015 and they will not budge until 12/14. just thought since TU was easier it could of been done already.

and you are correct if I do it now and its a no go then I would have to wait another 30 days. so rather wait till NOV

Mail it in. Forget the online option since it sounds like you don't even have an online option.

That is exactly my point. If you want to dispute as obsolete, and TU doesn't allow you to dispute online as obsolete, then..........MAIL IT IN.

I mail all my disputes anyway.

I have 3 more due to fall off on 6/2015 so I'm going to dispute those in Dec.

6 months on TU

I know this is a long thread but all the answers to your questions are in here.

For TU, I used "no longer responsible" or something like that and then wrote in " past 7 year reporting, please delete this obsolete account." Keep it simple. Mail disputes with TU are not nearly as successful for obsolete.

You can dispute on TU within the 30 day period of your last dispute. You just use the alt form. Link and Google instructions are in the thread.

EX will delete with a call 3 months before the DOFD, not 3 months from when it is listed to come off on the status line.

I tried the online version they are treating it as a dispute. Let see what happens

Congrats! TU reps seem to love the delete key, not so much on EX and EQ :)

Eq is the worse in my opinion I have something scheduled to come off on 12/14 and they wont budge

I have been able to delete two things that are scheduled to come off in 12/14 from EX no problems and they where two OC accounts. but I just got off the phone with EQ and they will not budge to call back Dec 1

Agree with this! EX deleted right on the phone for me 2 accounts from a foreclosure, 6 months early. EQ will not do sh*t for me!

Has anyone tried to dispute just lates as obsolete? I still have one old late on a GMAC lease from 01/2008 with the final two lease payments being OK. If I can dispute just that old late off, I can keep it as a positive trade line till 2018 instead of disputing it off over the next month(s).

I tried that many years ago with a closed, pays as agreed account. if I remember correctly, the CRA ended up deleting the entire TL!

I guess we'll find out if it is possible. I disputed on TU but I didn't dispute as obsolete. I checked the box for "multiple discrepancies" and wrote "The late payment from 1/2008 is too old to be reporting". I'm already at 803 on TU, so the late clearly isn't hurting that bad, but if I can keep the account on my report as a good TL for 10 years, then I'd like to try.

Yes, I have disputed 30 day lates every month they become 6.5 years old, and TU deletes the lates and makes that month as on time.

Has the obsolete dispute changed on TU?

I helped a friend just recently and realized that I didn't have to type anything in as I did for myself a few months back.

I just clicked on "should not report" (something like that) and that's it. Only time will tell if it worked for him. Just curious if anyone else experienced this.

I waited patiently for months until today, December 1st, to dispute as obsolete with Equifax an old LVNV account which has been reporting incorrectly for years. DOFD is incorrectly reporting as Jan 2008 (it's actually sometime in 2007, but that's another story). So I wanted to be patient and not try too soon before contacting EQ to have the best chance of getting this deleted by the end of 2014. I made 12 different calls today over the course of a few hours, trying to find the "right person" to help me with a courtesy deletion (for an account that shouldn't be reporting anyway because it's well past the reporting SOL).

A few times I asked to be transferred to special handling or the executive consumer dept. Those transferred calls seemed to just go to someone else in the cesspool which makes up the body of EQ's phone reps.

On one call, my explanation of why LVNV should be deleted was met with a pitch to purchase EQ Complete and ScoreWatch. Every time I declined, the rep kept going back to his hard selling approach for their paid services. On another call, a rep told me LVNV would stay on my report until Nov 2021 because under the EQ "retention policy" negative items stay on consumer reporting files for 7 years from the date of last activity and apparently that date was last month. WTF?!?!?

Another rep actually advised me to settle the account. I'm not making this up. He said in his broken English accent that negative accounts with a balance will stay on EQ reports forever unless they are settled and then they will only stay on for 7 years after that. I laughed out loud and hung up.

Yet another mindless EQ rep told me that he could not remove the negative LVNV account and advised me that I should be prepared for a judgement from them soon and that a lawsuit was likely. Never mind the fact that this account is well past my state's SOL and that I had actually already been sued 5 years ago (and won) on this account back when it was with Arrow.

So yeah, today was a fun day. I think I will either try again tomorrow either by phone or online. Or maybe I will just file a CFPB complaint.

Everyone has their opinion on who is worse (EQ or EXP) but I have had great success with EXP for obsolete and other disputes using the phone and also directly through special handling (fax, letters, phone calls). And terrible success with EQ unless it was an online dispute.
