  1. Has your credit score gone up since you got Nationwide? My insurance was with Occidental (?). Before that I was with travelers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks Marv. Xoxo you are the best. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I went through Geico and they found a really low quote. The insurance co was demanding that I do some repairs that had to be done anyway but they were by far the lowest quote. And I had a big claim the previous year that was clearly an act of God so I didn’t seem to get dinged for that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. MLM? (Some get rich quick seminar?)DR (disfunctional relatives)? I am so out of the lingo. Thanks for any education. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I got a new quote (with improved credit) it went down from $2600 to just under $1200. They ding you for bad credit in anticipation of false /inflated claims. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Crazy to take a vacation when they are so tight. Did they have to use up miles or are they just that irresponsible? With children no less. What will they do for food and gas when they get home? These are not good “memories” although I wonder if the children know of life any other way. I hope they don’t have more children as they can’t afford the ones they have. 8. They started me low at $5k. Five yrs later I am at $60k. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I was wondering if the lack of an installment loan would affect my score. I pondered it before doing it. I am always interested in how paydowns affect the various FICOs. I have a conceit that EXP now likes me after hating me for so many years.
  10. I prepaid my PIA car loan where I was earning interest (and paying taxes) on the balance I kept at PenFed to pay it automatically. I had seven months left at 2.99% but was effectively paying more because of tax effect. It lowered my TU ten points by paying off $2,281. EQ and EXP ignored it altogether. Interesting. I am now at 797 TU (sob). I will get over it.

  12. As previously stated, I took a BT 0% transfer 0% interest for 12 mos on a NFCU platinum card that I applied for for this purpose to finance $10k of a $45k renovation. 6.99% thereafter on any remaining debt. I took down $9.7k on a $25k line so 38% utilization to keep it under 40% utilization. No other credit card debt is carried. When the o/s debt was reported, it dropped my TU score by 11 points to a low 800’s, Exp dinged me 6 points, Equifax 5. I had no other TU inquiries and have a small car loan is perhaps $2400 on an original $10k (rest was cash). PenFed was not competitive and I don’t have a CapOne card and did not want to get a Citi BT as I currently have no cards with them. I intend to pay 3-4x the minimum due each month after the rest of the work is finished In the next month or two and pay it off using tax refund before it matures at 12 mos. I prob have about $175k in credit lines and never carry a balance. All scores were about 815-820 previous to this. I hope that this is useful to CB as a reference point. Btw, Navy approved me over the phone, have been a pleasure to deal with, and I no longer carry balances or MMAs with them although I did in the past. I have another Flagship $25k line and a rewards card for maybe $2500 with Navy with minimal usage. CV, Don’t Hate Me! I have about four years out of credit card hell and built my history carefully. I was still blackballed by Chase as of two years ago and I prob could get a card as I am 11 years out from default. No desire for CapOne or Discover, no need for any Citi cards at this time (had two, cancelled them). Still gun shy re a chase and while I used to crave a Sapphire I just don’t any longer. Have a ton of Amex cards and a big Barclay, rarely used, Bank of A apart from Navy and Penfed lines. Don’t have the app itch anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Did your insurance pay for any of it? I was lucky enough last year to get a generous payout after a storm which felled trees on an outside patio stairwell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
