Evpolk
So at the end of 2020 I purchased a home. My old apartment complex charge me for a year (2021) after I moved out when my lease is up. They lost track of my lease when they were changing over the apartment to another owner. I called the complex and talked to a manager and explained the situation and they said they would get on it. It’s been over two years and it’s still on my credit report. It’s lowered my credit down 40 points and I don’t know what to do. Is this even legal

Why Chat
Follow the guides; https://whychat.me/GUIDEBOOK.html Once you have corrected any and all errors send a letter to each CRA where this account is reporting. https://whychat.me/initdispltrsol.html Use this paragraph Here is the suggested text to insert: Please advise me as to the name and address of the original creditor, the name of the account holder, and the reported date of the subject contract Please advise me as to the correct name and current address of this creditor and their agency or agencies If you can obtain this information, I also would need the name of the person providing this data, and the manner in which it was provided in order that I may pursue additional legal remedies. From your post, you indicate that the seller of the apartment complex charged you the year, I get the impression you are talking to the buyers. All they have is the Accounts Receivable records from the seller, which shows you owe the money. You should be talking with the seller of the apartment complex - it's their error to correct. If it is the new owner billing you, then if you were me you would be BEGGING them to file suit - because they cannot produce a lease with your name and signature on it to show you ever rented from them. Of course, their suit drove you to seek psychiatric help, you considered suicide, you lost your sex drive and your marriage collapsed because of it, all directly caused by their malicious screw up and you want all sorts of high-dollar damages from them in your counter-suit.
