If of interest to any WF card holders, I copied this from their site and it sounded possible speaking with a banker.

"If you have a current credit card with Wells Fargo and you are applying for an additional card, you agree to allow Wells Fargo to allocate your credit limits between your existing and new credit card accounts, to allow for use of both cards. Please note that you always have the right to change or reallocate your limits on your own by calling Customer Service at any time, with certain restrictions."

Thanks for posting this. I'll update the master list when I'm on a suitable device.

Why does this sound like something that would be in a Discover agreement

Wells Fargo rep told me one time that CL consolidations from their cobranded cards like Dillards to their main products aren't possible with them.

Thanks. Reflected in the summary.

Add one to the list for Citi. I called regular AA CS, asked for a credit line increase as a result of a credit line decrease, rep kept insisting on a CLI (didn't seem to know CLI from CLD existed), so I asked for an account manager in Florida (use these words).

The account manager put in my request around 7 PM EST to take $9,700 from my Citi HHonors and $4,500 from my Citi Simplicity, to move to my new AAdvantage card ($11k approval), resulting in a $25.2k AAdvantage.

I just checked my AAdvantage card and it shows the $25.2k limit.

Bank would only move 2k max over to the other card.

They then offer and upgraded the card wtih new 5k litmit to points, same account number and age. Not sure if it will be a siggy.

Gave me option to close other card with remaining 1k balance.

8 year customer, pif monthly, and clean reports.

I am not sure if this is new legit information, or if people have discussed this already or if this is bogus info, but here it is....

I was talking to a Cap1 agent about upgrading a current Platinum card I have to the QuickSilver rewards card. Although I had spoken to them about combining limits before and was turned down, I thought I'll try again anyway. This time, an elderly person speaking to me, said that they are actually in the middle of discussing the process of combining limits, and there is a plan to allow that in the future. He didnt commit to a timeline, but very definitively said it'll happen sometime. He did say he was absolutely sure that Cap1 is exploring it at the moment.

Any credibility to this piece of info based on similar info others may have heard?

I used to tell customers the same thing when they'd ask about things we couldn't do. Because it doesn't hamper the relationship.

Where as a no, typically turns people down. A maybe, will keep them interested, and make them more adjusted to what you want them

to do at that point.

Its a mind game, and I used it well. Its all about getting someone to play ball in your court.

I plan on being a billionaire, sometime. Plans fail, but when people hear something that directs their emotions to something they are positive

about, they're more inclined to accept it than a no, or a negative response.

Sales 101 stuff

Very interesting..

Was with a friend of mine a few days ago and I have to say @carpediem24 looks to be right.

My friend was on the phone with a CSR and they offered him to combine his limits. I don't think he did, but it looks like Cap One is shifting in that direction.

Do you happen to hear which cards your friend has that they offered to combine? This could be huge for folks who have $10K plus QS's and $20K plus V's...

I don't think anything fancy. Just some low limit basic cards.

I'm definitely interested in hearing if it's possible to combine Cap 1 cards again - I have 4 and really don't need nor want that many of their cards. I have two old low limit cards stuck at $3K and $3.5K that I'd be interested in combining.

Anyone have a substantiated account of this happening and through what method?

I used the self serve link for AMEX this morning.

My cards are 3 weeks old.

The system allowed me to request a transfer but had to leave $600 (not $500 or $1000) on the donor card.

Once I submitted the request, I got a 7-10 day message.

Is it science that you have to wait til the 13th statement closes to move limits?

Another Amex question... I just got a CLI the other day to bring 1 of my Amices up to 24.5K and was wondering if I requested to take credit from my other card to put it over 25K, will they request (I forgot what's it called) even though it's existing credit that I currently have?

No 4506-T for me when I moved $24,500 from another card onto the $25,000 I already had on my SPG.
