So, I'm in line to make a deposit at my soon-to-be-employing bank, and this convo goes down in the teller line:

Random Guy Next to Me (RGNTM): "Hey, how's it going man, long time no see!"

Me: O_o

RGNTM: "I haven't seen you or your younger sister since high school! Your name is Andrew, right?"

Me: "I don't have a younger sister... and my name isn't Andrew........"

I mean, I understand mistaken identities, but... maybe people should ask someone's name first, before carrying on a convo, and then realizing they are entirely wrong as to who they're talking to...

More importantly, did you tell him that you're the soon to be Senior Banking Market Manager, & First Vice President and you will WRECK his account, and subsequently, his life, if he mistakes you for a commoner ever again??

Good point, Jeremiah!

More importantly...who goes to a branch to make a deposit anymore?

Silly. It's THE Banker. A man of his importance probably deals with multiple streams of income, and very large sums of money. Some things just can't be properly addressed electronically!

I've made friends with most of the employees there (before being hired by said bank), so I drop in to say hi and chat. And I prefer to deposit at the teller line vs. ATM.

Also, Snork? Thank you for reminding me of my high income, wealth, and highly important social status; however, you can stop. It was funny the first few times. Now it's just annoying. Thanks. ;)

I detest going into a bank. Haven't done so for years except when there is an issue. My bank manager has learned that when I come in it is best not to "small talk" with me because 1. I am in a hurry and 2. I am probably ticked off at them.

You could have messed with him...

RGNTM: "I haven't seen you or your younger sister since high school! Your name is Andrew, right?"

Me: "I haven't seen my younger sister since she was abducted by aliens"

RGNTM:

I still deposit money by going to the bank. :blush2:

I have issues completely trusting computers, or random rednecks that wrap chains around the ATM and drag it away after I've made a deposit.

Is anyone that self-important that they get offended by someone mistaking them for someone else?:lol: I only get offended if someone mistakes me for a GPS, and ask for directions.. :beee::glare:

Me too. Plus, it's right down the street from my work, so it's not that big of a hassle. Every time I've gone into the bank, it's been really empty. *Shrug*

So, off topic.. I was talking to my brother in law, an actual VP at a bank. And he knows phawk-all about quarterly newsletters. Do you have any input, Highly Important Social Status-ed Banker?

I always thought that being a Vice President at a bank was a lot like being the assistant to the assistant of the night manager at Micky D's? dry.gif

Not really.

AVP/VP/SVP/FVP, etc, are Corporate Titles. Most major banks give Officers Corporate Titles.

Generally, with major banks, Branch Managers are AVP/VP, depending on rank, time with company, etc. So it is for positions with power over a certain segment (a branch, a district/market, region, etc).

Generally, Business Banking Officers have AVP/VP titles, as well. In most cases, Personal Bankers, Assistant Branch Managers, etc, are not Officers of the Bank and do not have Corporate Titles, unless they once held a position of Officership.

Smaller banks sometimes hand out titles a bit more liberally. But it really depends on the bank, their opinions on the subject, etc.
