Have you tried the "Ask for an APR reduction, get a SP CLI" method with Barclays card?

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/The-BarclayCard-CLI-Soft-Pull-thread/td-p/3854097/highlight/false

I got $3K on each of my 2 cards using this method.

I kinda suspect that with 1 card, I'd have gotten a single $3K increase, and with 3 cards I'd have gotten 3 $3K increases. (Seems consistent with various reports of Barclays SP CLIs, I can't name any links).

So, if you're aspiring for Credit Pimpdom, you might leave that Barclays Rewards MasterCard in hopes of occasional SP CLIs.

Food for thought,

MP

I did try that and was successful with the Rewards MC only.

I'm also closing it because I want to open other cards.

CP is a goal of mine, but I don't intend to rush to get there.

Tried this Friday, 'twas a bust.

Factors I believe that caused failure:

Aviator is in their system as not activated, mailed not received yet.

Sallie Mae was on last day of 0%, couldn't lower rate from 0, said to call back.

SM is 1 year old, Aviator is 8 months old.

Will try again.

Definitely try again. I'm going to run my M&M up to 80%+ of the limit a few times and see if I can get a CLI from that.

I just applied for Global Entry and paid with my Amex Business Platinum. I'm going to try to get the most out of my 11 months with this card, and the AF of $450 was definitely worth it.

So far:

$200 in AA GCs

$100 Global Entry application credit

I signed up for Priority Pass

There is an Amex Centurion Lounge at DFW

I will hit the bonus spend for the other 50K of the 150K MR points today

Next year, I will get another $200 in AA GCs, so even the cash aspect of this card covers the $450 AF.

What is Priority Pass?

I know Global Entry is good for 5 years.

An airline lounge program.

Yes, I knew that.

I forgot to add that I also have SPG Gold status now. I'll be getting that anyway from $30K on my SPG this year.

I just closed my Chase United Mileage Plus Visa and moved the entire $6500 limit to my CSP, and I also moved $500 from my Freedom to my CSP.

There was no need to keep $500 on the donor card, and the donor card was less than a year old. They did soft TU before approving the transfer.

Dang, thought Bob was back at first glance...

Still praying for him to come back sometime soon.

His presence is missed

So today is a good day for rewards. :D

My United miles posted from my last statement, including the 10K bonus for hitting $25K spend. That card got me just over 90K miles and a nice CLI on my CSP.

My 2250 AA bonus miles from the eshopping portal promotion for spending $700 posted this morning.

The last transaction that put me over $20K spend on the Amex Business Platinum posted this morning, so the remaining 50K of the 150K bonus should post at any time.

Maths is hard, just started a Statistics class, not loving it.

How old are you?

I am at peak contribution, completing a Masters because I have free time, hence statistics.

Yes, we miss Bob...his charts, knowledge, humor and all of his wonderful contributions. I have told him this...

Do you think he will come back?

Congrats! :good:

It seems like you would be able to achieve spending on a $100K 1 MIL Points bonus...

I'm quite surprised they don't have Mega Sign Up Bonuses for the higher tiers.

Obviously these people have money and don't need the Bonus no matter what the offer is, however, a $20,000 signup bonus would be exciting for anyone.
