Cappy Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Another Amex question... I just got a CLI the other day to bring 1 of my Amices up to 24.5K and was wondering if I requested to take credit from my other card to put it over 25K, will they request (I forgot what's it called) even though it's existing credit that I currently have? No 4506-T for me when I moved $24,500 from another card onto the $25,000 I already had on my SPG. I think I will wait until my next Cli or maybe 2 more to get my 5K up to an additional 24.5K and then combine. Thanks! Quote
TheScholar Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Pretty sure this is a redundant data point, but in case it isn't.....I recently opened both a Citi Hilton Reserve and a Citi Prestige card (Hilton first, then Prestige). When I opened the Prestige, I got a msg that I had to call in for an immediate decision. The rep asked me a couple of questions about the weather and then said she could approve me for $X and asked if that would meet my needs (where $X was between my already existing AAdvantage card and my new Hilton card). I said, "I suppose so." She said, "Well, what i was going to say was that if you'd like more, I can move some from one of your existing lines". The key for me was the "s" at the end of line -- so I could move it from either the AAdvantage or the Hilton at my choice and she was willing to let me choose the amount. I chose to move just a little bit. I later wondered whether that was the right move or I should have moved more....but at this point I don't think I'll keep the Prestige long term. If I change my mind and decide to keep it, I'll kick myself for not moving some more over. At any rate, I wasn't sure if this added something because the move was not necessary for approval....just for increasing my CL on the new card if I wanted to. Quote

I called yesterday to remove my mom as an AU from my fathers cc (I forgot she was an AU from when I started building up her credit)... When she was removed successfully, I asked the CSR if I can combine a Sears Citi card to a Thank You cc and I was told "NO"..... BUT! The lady told me, they DO have a feature IF you apply for a new cc, you can put the limit(s) from your old card(s) to the new one and close out the old ones. Quote
