Another Amex question... I just got a CLI the other day to bring 1 of my Amices up to 24.5K and was wondering if I requested to take credit from my other card to put it over 25K, will they request (I forgot what's it called) even though it's existing credit that I currently have?

No 4506-T for me when I moved $24,500 from another card onto the $25,000 I already had on my SPG.

I think I will wait until my next Cli or maybe 2 more to get my 5K up to an additional 24.5K and then combine.

Thanks! :good:

Pretty sure this is a redundant data point, but in case it isn't.....I recently opened both a Citi Hilton Reserve and a Citi Prestige card (Hilton first, then Prestige). When I opened the Prestige, I got a msg that I had to call in for an immediate decision. The rep asked me a couple of questions about the weather and then said she could approve me for $X and asked if that would meet my needs (where $X was between my already existing AAdvantage card and my new Hilton card). I said, "I suppose so." She said, "Well, what i was going to say was that if you'd like more, I can move some from one of your existing lines". The key for me was the "s" at the end of line -- so I could move it from either the AAdvantage or the Hilton at my choice and she was willing to let me choose the amount. I chose to move just a little bit. I later wondered whether that was the right move or I should have moved more....but at this point I don't think I'll keep the Prestige long term. If I change my mind and decide to keep it, I'll kick myself for not moving some more over.

At any rate, I wasn't sure if this added something because the move was not necessary for approval....just for increasing my CL on the new card if I wanted to.

This is known. I recently moved some credit around on Citi when I got approved for a Minimum about due to Max Exposure and was offered the same.

I need to update the list to remove the suggestion that this may only work at Citi with AAdvantage cards. Hold, please.

Another Citi data point. Was just approved for a DC card. Was not offered a line movement at approval. After I got the card, I called in to number on the back of DC card and rep said they don't move limits. I asked on this card or any card. She said any card. I told her I just moved limits on my AA card a few weeks ago, so they do move limits. Was told she did not have the authority to request it, so I asked who did..was transferred to a supervisor and was able to request partial move from TY Premier to DC card. Will update on outcome and whether or not they pull a CR.

Just to confirm Citi combining....

I called yesterday to remove my mom as an AU from my fathers cc (I forgot she was an AU from when I started building up her credit)...

When she was removed successfully, I asked the CSR if I can combine a Sears Citi card to a Thank You cc and I was told "NO".....

BUT! The lady told me, they DO have a feature IF you apply for a new cc, you can put the limit(s) from your old card(s) to the new one and close out the old ones.

You need to talk to a supervisor. It can be done.

Yep, ask for the supervisor in Jacksonville, Florida. They do a "credit line increase due to a credit line decrease" or something to that effect.

I just closed my Chase United Mileage Plus Visa and moved the entire $6500 limit to my CSP, and I also moved $500 from my Freedom to my CSP.

Before:

CSP $12K

United $6.5K

Freedom $5.5K

After:

CSP $19K

Freedom $5K

There was no need to keep $500 on the donor card, and the donor card was less than a year old. They did soft TU before approving the transfer.

Update - conversion complete, no CR pulled. Seems like Citi is firmly in the "will" bucket, but front line reps will push back.

This wasn't an instant process?

How long does it generally take from the request from the supervisor?

Mine took about 24-48 hours when I moved limits from Simplicity and HHonors to AA.
