From what I've read here and elsewhere, it appears BOA will combine cards / limits. I'll find out shortly as I have a Bank of America Cash Rewards Platinum Visa and just was approved for a BOA Cash Rewards Signature Visa

Thanks guys. Just waiting for my new card, then I'll combine and close out the Platinum - Signature offers a $200 for $500 spend and a lower APR for me.

How old is your platinum? You'd potentially be losing out by closing a seasoned acct in favor of a brand new one. Perhaps you could PC the platinum to something you'd rather have, and then combine any new cards into that one, keeping the oldest TL open.

I doubt it.

I'd like to apply for both of those cards later this year and I'm thinking the 20k card first so it's a bit older when I close the + and transfer it's balances.

Just updating the thread for anyone searching in the future: BOA rep I reached was willing to "combine" my limits... but insisted on leaving $200 on the card to be closed... transferring the rest and stated she "had" to do a fresh HP to process this as an application for new credit.

So... I lose $200 of already established credit, close the older account, and take a HP hit (with potential decline)!? Er... no thanks. If I'm going to take the HP I'll just CLI the better of the 2 cards.
