CTSoxFan Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Last week I moved 10k from one Citi card to another via the EO and did not incur a HP. May have been because I had a recent HP from Citi and referenced that in my call. I had the same experience closing my card, no HP. I did have a recent (Jan) pull, but it was for a business app. And I never mentioned it because I was told there would be a new pull. What makes me mad is they said they HAD to leave $5K on the card being closed. Whatever... Did the same thing to me when I combined my AA platinum into the AA Exec card. They had to leave $2000 on the donor card because that was the min CL. Makes no sense since they are closing the card anyway, but whatever... Quote

cv91915 Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) Citi update! Yesterday I contacted Citi customer service and was able to move all but $2,000 of the limit on my AA Platinum to my AA Executive. I called the number on the back of the Exec card. The agent informed me that they have a process for this called "credit limit increase as a result of a credit limit decrease." I was informed that they may do a HP (to which I agreed, for science), and he asked me for our household income and monthly housing payment. He put in the request to move all but $2,000 (the minimum that must remain on the Platinum) and said that he'd call me back with the result no later than the following day. I got a call back within a few hours and the limit transfer was granted. I checked this morning, and there was no credit inquiry from Citi. Note: Each Citi donor card may have a different minimum limit that must remain. Had the transfer request gone in the other direction (Exec -> Platinum) I would have had to leave $5,000 on the Exec. cv91915 Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 Wells Fargo allowed me to reallocate the credit line from one account to another. I did not see them on your list above. Interesting. How recently, and from which card to which card? Within the last 30 days. Reallocated entire credit line from Rewards Platinum Visa to Cash Back Visa Signature. Any hard pull? No hard pull for the reallocation. Could you please remind me how you contacted Wells Fargo, and which two cards were involved? Quote

Sent 2 messages through secured message channel and was denied. Decided to call CS using the number on the back of my Exec card. Asked if I could do the CLI as a result of a CLD and was told yep, no problem. Same experience as CV above, will check tomorrow if they pulled a hard or not. Asked how low the Hilton could go and she said $300, but I told her to leave it at $1,000 (just in case I stay at a Hilton before I close it), and move the remaining $17,500 to my Exec. Just checked my online profile and was able to see Exec limit now $63,500 (from $46,000). This has now surpassed my FIA Amex as my highest limit card. Quote

cv91915 Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Can we add US Bank...also, does anyone know if they will reallocate a card holder's CL to a new app (denied) like CIti? Yes. I was declined a personal card and for having too much credit and closed a business card to open the personal card. They also let you combine limits from any card to another card. It's not instant like Chase or others, but it will be done by the next day. I can also confirm this (US Bank). Called UW (took two calls) and they said moving limits isn't a problem at all. Also, if the donor card is at a zero balance you can move the entire donot limit and close the card. What number did you call? I'd like to update this thread with specifics. Quote

BW1216 Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Isn't there an urban legend that cards above $50k don't count towards FICO util? Here's my play... move all balances (mostly all at 0% anyways) to this card using the 0% BT. Util should be about 0% right? Or am I crazy? Quote
CreditNewb15 Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) I have an app spree coming up in a couple months. Looking for 2 AMEX cards (at least), 1 Citi, 1 BOA, 1 Discover. When I do these within 30 days or so, are some of these issuers more sensitive to inquiries than others? Is there an order I should apply in? My thought was to apply for AMEX first, then wait for those 2 cards to report in order to get D*. Then a month later hit the rest with a (probably) higher score. AMEX will pull EX and EQ I'm assuming. I don't believe any but possibly BOA will pull TU (if I call and request). Edited March 25, 2015 by CreditNewb15 Quote

Okay - just checking. It would be STOOPID to app anything until your reports are clean - you are so close. Your plan for letting a D* Amex report first is probably a good idea. I'm planning to do that next year - and trying to get a 61-day 3x Amex CLI before apping other cards. Most people are blacklisted from BOA for 7 years after their charge-off. But a few people have gotten back in before that with the FIA Fidelity Amex card. Good luck! Edited March 25, 2015 by tweak Quote

tweak Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 If of interest to any WF card holders, I copied this from their site and it sounded possible speaking with a banker. "If you have a current credit card with Wells Fargo and you are applying for an additional card, you agree to allow Wells Fargo to allocate your credit limits between your existing and new credit card accounts, to allow for use of both cards. Please note that you always have the right to change or reallocate your limits on your own by calling Customer Service at any time, with certain restrictions." Quote
popamode72 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Just did a full CL consolidation of my Amazon card over to the Freedom after calling JPM's Priority line. They got a lending specialist on the line and she was able to do it without any of that inactivity for a month requirement that SM gives out since I was closing that card. I also moved $4k from the Ritz and $1k from AARP over to the CSP and made that limit $10k. Quote
