No, USAA doesn't give big initial credit lines.

Tomorrow, my USAA credit card will be 6 months old. I applied for a bunch of cards during that time frame and USAA is one of my lower limits at 6K.

how is USAA with baddies?

USAA wouldn't give me the time of day when I had two 6.5+ y.o. COs showing (scores in the 680 range). I did several recons, up to including the president of the company but they wouldn't give me any of their unsecured products, even with a five dollar limit. My income was strong, and aside from those two admittedly serious (but quite old) blemishes I didn't have so much as a 30-day late anywhere else on my reports, and I had a decent mix of tradelines reporting (mortgage, installment, revolving).

Once my credit was pristine I looked at their rewards card offerings again and pretty much did a spit take. Now that I can choose from almost any card I want I would never chose one of their UNrewarding rewards cards.

If it wasn't for the inexpensive daily puller ($11.12/month for all three bureaus, at least for now) I would have closed my account/membership and moved on with my life a few months ago.

They don't seem to want to touch anyone with collections. Do you have to call to get their daily 3 puller? That's a petty good deal and I haven't seen that offer on their site. Do you have to be a full member to get it? I guess im a full member, not sure but I am a US Army vet so who knows. I thought someone said you had to have their insurance to be considered a full member.

When I apped for a used car loan about 14 months ago with them, I turned it down. I couldn't believe that Cap 1 blank check was 3 whole points lower than what they offered, I was shocked, they are definitely not good for everything but I do like them. Im not really thrilled with their lack luster rewards card though. After I declined their auto loan they did keep sending me Amex pre approvals until I caved.

I am not a full member.

There are threads dedicated to discussing this price structure for the daily puller, but the short of it is that if you subscribe to the daily puller service, and then call in to express concern about wanting to or being able to pay the going rate, you'll get an indefinite half price offer. This is pretty common for a lot of the monitoring/pulling services.

The rate I have may not be available but if not, something slightly higher should be under the scenario I described. Good luck.

Thanks for the good advice, I might try it soon and cancel one of my other TU pullers.

I'd cave in to for a 12k limite, haha.

Was that State Farm Visa easy to get? Did you have any of their products prior to applying?

Yeah right!, It was easy to get and I did have their insurance for about 7 years so maybe that played a part in their decision.

I am not a full member and my initial limits were 15k (still are). I got a mastercard and then applied for the amex and got both at 15k. I just applied my husband for a card and he got an initial 12k limit.

How do you do CLI's with USAA, do you have to call?

That's great for you but for initial limits like that, you must have had good scores and no baddies, no?

I'm sure having their insurance helped. Do you know where they pull from?

So far , I have come to love them , tough to get high limits,.

In time they have been quite nice to me and honestly anybody I have recommended.

True they love squeaky clean, as I jump started a friends credit /Au big lines I had her apply at usaa.

Needless to say she was approved for 10 k instantley in front of me.

Her eyes bulged out of her head and mine to be frank.

The other line she had on her own was a 500 rebuilder card I had her open at a local Cu.

that's a great limit for someone that only had a 500 rebuilder card. You had her apply online though right?
