I use a credit card for all my every day stuff, weither that be lunch dinner, gas, clothes, anything really.. Then I just tag my checking account to pay off that cc.

Works great for me, and I dont ever have to worry bout if I overdraft my checking. Make sure I PIF the CC so I dont get any finance charges. :clapping:

Too bad the survey doesn't allow you to rank your choices. Using number of transactions, not dollar amounts/percentages, mine would break down probably something like this...

1- 90%, credit cards, most everyday stuff, then pay from checking at end of month. I do have to watch myself, though, because I am prone to overspend if I'm not paying attention. Because of that, I have started using my debit card for groceries more often.

2- 5%, debit card, groceries, mostly, or when I need to get cash back to feed the monster that is known as The Teenage Boy.

3- 3%, cash, incidental stuff. Sometimes it's just easier and more convenient for me, and that's what it's all about.

4- 2% checks, mainly bills that I cannot or will not reasonably pay any other way, i.e. mortgage, utilities, etc. I include online bill payments of credit cards in this number, also.

this is CREDITboards.... Id think the answer to be obvious....we shall see

Not necessarily. I could see how one might obtain and "use" credit to their advantage in gaining better interest rates and the such, yet do most of their daily spending in cash or debit cards. For the impulse spender, maybe that would even be the better option.

*light!* :blush2:

I still like the convenience and added consumer protections, though.

Cash, followed by debit card, followed by credit card. I only pay my rent and doctor's bills with checks.

I honestly do not remember the last check I've written. I have one or two 19th century utilities that don't take online payments, and so I use my bank's bill pay, in which the bank themselves sends them a check on my behalf...

Cash money here. Absolutely unbelieveable to me that the #1 answer is Check Card/Debit card/Atm card, thats the worst possible way to go. A direct link to your bank account. Not smart IMO.

cash is good for drug dealers  .

Anyone who works with cash.

The debit card thing is just ridiculous to me. Why put cash into the bank, then use a card that links to that entire account?

I am actually pro-debit card. If you keep good records, keep any eye on your checking account daily and watch out for merchants that do double authorizations. You should have no problems.

Myself,

I found it easier to dispute a debit card transaction, then a credit card transaction. Your bank is usually local. It easier to dispute in person. Some banks do not know the rules or how to follow them. I know the rules.

According to Market research study people are moving away from credit cards to debit cards.

I have no control over putting the money in the bank, my company requires direct deposit.

Then you could still use a CC, and pay the CC from your bank account.

The possibility of your entire bank account being wiped out could be disastrous. Even once the money gets credited back. With CC's, nothing to worry about.

There are dozens of threads on this board which prove that isn't always true.

Note that 'Possibility' was the key word.

Take your own risks, I won't do it myself tho, thats all.

"Possibility" was referring to the debit cards. I was referring to your argument that "with CC's, nothing to worry about". I've read countless stories here about people who have been fighting for years to clean up their credit after fraudulent usage of their credit cards, even when they have full documentation including police reports.
