Credit Card "Pre-Selector" sites?

update with my prequal with Dover. It was a chore getting to the correct department. Was promised call back Monday and Tuesday. (didn't happen) So I called and finally was transferred to someone. One

To be quite honest, I don't remember why they denied me. It was weird though, I did the little pre-screener, it said I had an offer for the Discover It card - they said I was approved after I submitted the app, but it took me to another screen and said before they could proceed, they needed additional information, and then after I gave that, it said I was denied. I suspect it's because I filed bk and was discharged in Sept 2014, but it was also probably because I didn't establish any real credit at the point of application. The whole thing was bizarre.

Anyone had Discover prequalify you for a Discover It card and then deny you after applying?

It wouldn't surprise me. Years ago I got a pre approval in the mail from Discover and got denied after applying. Never have tried since . Don't need them.

Be sure y'all put these into the creditpulls database. You could put preapproval in the notes section, for people who just go straight to creditpulls.

I've tried numerous times to see what I might pre-qualify for and I keep getting the same message that they are unable to provide me with information. I feel like I'm doing something wrong! Any suggestions??

Do you have any address variations? Are you opted in? Are you using the same name and physical address that might be listed on your credit reports?

 

I get the same message a lot too. No one can explain it, other than I am just not credit worthy (yet!) of pre-approval for the cards I want. :(

Question - just because you get "pre-qualified" doesn't mean that you are going to get approved - right? It just means you have a higher chance to get approved? Dh tried the pre-qual link for Cap One, they recommended Quicksilver and two other cards saying that he was pre-qualified for them. He apped, and was denied. What good is it to do this pre-qual if you are going to get denied in the end anyways? I'm guessing that he will get hit with a triple pull for that or will get get a sp since he was pre-qualified first?

I do have an few different addresses so perhaps I'm using the wrong one? I have no idea.

 

I hope we're not getting the message because we're not credit worthy. That would stink big time! I guess it may be possible though...

I figured I'd update all the pre-quals, and I add `em when I see `em.

 

You have a point, that's for sure. Maybe I shouldn't include it in the next update? It is pointless on a few levels...
