Hello,

I'm in the final stages of recovery from a bad financial situation that started in 2008. I had a ton of negatives on my reports (maybe 50+) and my Ficos were high 300s.I should have probably filed BK, but I chase, barkclays, citibank, and bank of america.

I've started a couple of threads before, but now I feel like I'm in a good position to really make the last push as almost all of my remaining baddies are scheduled to fall off this year. Before, I was just waiting for things to fall off. Now I think I can actually take some action.

Now I have zero late payments (130+payments and all on-time), credit inquiries (6 on TU and 4 on Equifax), nice aged accounts (7 years average), and credit utilization under control 9%). I'm happy about that.

The problem is that I have a judgement and open collections that are dragging my scores down.

I still have a judgement on all 3 accounts.

On Transunion, I have 1 open collection and 4 chargeoffs

On Equifax, I have 0 open collections 5 chargeoffs.

On Experian, I have 3 collections and 6 chargeoffs

All of my collections are held by Midland. The open collections are for the Barkclays accounts below and are all set to fall off this year.

Do chargeoffs falling off help your score? Here are some of the negs (Chargeoffs) that still show in some form and should be falling off over this year.

My average FICO scores are somewhere around 630. I made previous posts with FAKO scores (using Credit Karma and my scores there are like 100 points higher than my FICOs)

I started 2015 with $3,200 in available credit. I ended 2015 with $17,450 in available credit. I applied for 2 Capital One cards (venture and quicksilver in August). I got approved for $3,000. Just two weeks ago, I hit the luv button and got a CLI up to $10,000 on the Venture card and up to $3,250 on QS. So I was happy about that. I got an automatic increase like 2 months ago on my Discover card from $1,000 to $2,000. I've been denied for CLIs on on Discover and AMEX.

My current credit card tradelines are:

Capital One Venture One: $10,000

Capital One Quicksilver: $3,250

Discover: $2,000

American Express Platinum: $1,200

American Express Blue: $1,000

My goal this year it to get to a clean report by January 1st, 2017.

I plan on gardening and attempting to get CLIs on my current accounts. I will garden until August. Then I'll go on an app spree. I want to go for higher limit cards and hopefully get my available credit up to 50,000 by the end of year.

Before, I just sat back and let things fall off. I'm going to take some action on these remaining items to try to get them off... especially the judgement which isn't scheduled to come off until 2019.

I work better when I track things. So I'm going to update this when anything "happens" related to my credit. I've been reading here 100s of threads consistently for the last month or so and feel "ready" to start.

"Let sleeping dogs lie". I would just wait it out until they fall off especially you are already on a good start with reestablishing. If it's just a matter of a few months, just wait it out.

What's the details on the judgment? Paid? Unpaid? How are you going to go about trying to get it off of your CR?

I have two, but practically everything else negative has fallen off. That's the thing that's really holding me back, but I've been nervous about trying to tackle them.

You do know that you can dispute a lot of this stuff as obsolete in order to "help" them get removed from your report, right? Most have found that TU will delete 6 months early, EX will delete 3 months early (from the 7 years, this "extra" 3 months is included in EX's "scheduled to be removed" date). Equifax, doesn't seem to delete early, at least, not consistently. However, it never hurts to try.

Are the judgements paid or unpaid?

Just to give you an idea of what's possible with a PR reporting -- my TU is 744 with one paid tax lien and no other derogs. That's with -

  • two accounts less than 6mos old
  • 8 account 6-12mos old
  • 4 accounts > than 28 years old (thank you AmEx D* :) )
  • 8.8yr AAOA
  • 17 HI's (11 in past 12mos)
  • 8% util

Are most of the cards you have unsecured? I currently have the same score as you but didn't think I'd get anything with my score (except I just got a unsecured Cap 1 platinum card).

Good luck to you and I'll be following your thread. Most of my baddies are due to fall off this year as well (Spring).

If you can wait to it falls off then that is probably for the best.

Are you talking about the judgement here? If so, are you telling him not to dispute it as obsolete and just to wait for it to fall of his reports? If so, why do you recommend this? Is there a downside to disputing as obsolete? If so, what is it? Sorry to bombard you with questions, but I want to make sure I am not missing something here.
