cv91915 Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Would probably help if you read the comments CITI Data Point: I was approved for 1K Citi AA today and was offered reallocation via the UW, so I took 4K from another card to make the card 5K.. Another point to add... She mentioned the MAX she could reallocate over was $7,500 total on a new card regardless of how much credit you have overall with Citi... She did mention that this was Citi policy, not account specific for the 7.5K You could add this to the Citi Data ... Btw, I reallocated some credit with Chase yesterday through a regular CSR... I usually need to speak to an UW, but CS did it without an issue The list is most useful if no clicking is required. Quote

Mike2006 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 @cv, Is there a suggested time frame before asking to combine limits? I read Amex is 13 months, but what about others. I wouldn't think you could steal CL from a recent approval, or can you? To be more specific, I'm trying to build a strategy to build limits with Barclays Quote

Inspired Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Penfed will do it, but the results took forever. I didn't have the limits changed officially for a week or two, maybe longer. The guy said another department handles it and he just puts the request in etc. No idea if this is truthful. Quote

How long do you keep the donor card open with the remaining 500 CL? I had 4 Barclays cards, 3 opened last year. I closed the cards opened in June and July and moved them to a card I opened in September, moving the entire CL. I wouldn't recommend doing it in as short of a time frame as I did. I was/am making a play for another US Airways card and needed to close my current US Airways card, as well as cutting my total number of cards with Barclays, to have a chance. Quote

Amex has the hangup about 13 statement cycles. Chase and B of A are pretty much anytime... and you got the Barclays answer above. Quote

CTSoxFan Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Has anyone tried this with crappy Discover? Yes, I was able to combine cards with Discover. DW and I had a joint card, and when the It card came out we each got individual It cards (I think there was a signup bonus at the time). I was then able to merge the 2 individual cards into the joint to leave us one card. Quote

cv91915 Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) I learned a couple of things about Chase today. This is based on my experience closing my $30k CSP and attempting to move the entire limit to my $7k Freedom. - If you close a card and move the limit, Chase will leave $500 on the donor card, just like Amex, so you can only move $X - $500 to the "receiving card." - The max credit limit for the "receiving card" is $35,000, without requiring approval by a senior credit specialist. I didn't have a lot of time, so I just moved $28,000/$30,000 from the CSP to the Freedom. Soon I will also be moving most of the limit from my Hyatt card to my Freedom, and I will allow plenty of time for a second conversation with a senior credit analyst when I make that phone call. donuteric Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 To add a data point to AMEX reallocation. It can be done by calling, through chat, or at the following URL: https://online.americanexpress.com/myca/logon/us/action?request_type=LogonHandler&Face=en_US&DestPage=https%3A%2F%2Fonline.americanexpress.com%2Fmyca%2Flinereallocation%2Fus%2Fssr.do%3Frequest_type%3Dauthreg_LineReallocation%26Face%3Den_US%26intLink%3Dus_ap_transfr_avlbl_crdt_other_card Login with your username and password. My experience is that EX must be thawed in order for a SP to go through, YMMV. Like previously mentioned, donor card must have 13th statement and have at least $500 leftover after the reallocation. Some say the receiver must have at least 2 statements generated. I didn't find that to be the case. Quote
rjb75 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) Last week I moved 10k from one Citi card to another via the EO and did not incur a HP.
