Don't get your hopes up for Equifax, since they are notorious for NOT reporting AUs.

I'm just curious why you say this? I was an authorized user on my parent's credit card from FIA/Bank of America and it reported to Equifax.

Just from past experience with AmEx. ;)

Have others reported this problem with creditors other than AmEx?

I have some AU questions that I have not been able to find definitive answers to. Hopefully someone can help. Currently I am either an AU of my wife or vice versa on the following cards Walmart, BofA, Target and Barclays. All report with the three cb's. To make it easy, I will post my questions below..

1) Do all of these count towards the Fico score of both parties whether AU or not? I have read it on here both ways.

2) Secondly, when you are an AU on a card, does that count towards the sweet spot in fico of having 5 active credit cards?

3) Finally, do store cards count towards that five?

1) If an AU account is on the credit report, it's included in FICO scoring

2) AU accounts PROBABLY count towards the 5, but FICO may not weight them as heavily as primary accounts.

3) PROBABLY, but once again, FICO may weight major bank cards more than store cards.

On manual review, UWs may ignore the first 2, and don't like to see a bunch of the 3rd one.

Bob, If I added myself to my niece's profile who is 18 and has 0 of credit history. 3-4 cards all reports to all 3 bureau's. Who we should try to apply for? (Don't want wasted INQ's). which bank will most likely bite on this profile? EQ fico shows 765. AAofA EQ complete shows 3y 0m. Lowest limit 5K highest 22K. I'm sure you had people with 0 credit before.

Authorized Users who are spouses should expect their AU accounts to be reported.

*IF* they are not reporting, contact the issuer to make sure they know the AU is a spouse.

For non-spousal AU accounts, it gets trickier.

Equifax is VERY aggressive about removing AU accounts.

To make an AU account look like it's a spousal one, it helps if

1) Primary & AU have the same surname

2) Live at the same address

3) Are of opposite sexes

CBers have reported success having Capital One report non-spousal AUs.

In my experience, BofA will also report non-spousal.

BWAUP v2.0 found that these cards DO NOT report non-spouses:

HSBC (Before CapOne takeover)

Lexus

RBS

UMB

I'm looking to add the AU's as non-spousal so it's good to hear one of my options (Capital One) is reporting. The other is a Chase United and it's good to see that they report as well. Hopefully it's not a problem with Chase that it's non-spousal.

Thanks to the great advice here I'm only three points away from what I need to get the mortgage I want. My dad added me to his Citi business card to help me get the last little boost - only it hasn't shown up yet. After a month I called and the rep said it wouldn't. They also didn't have my SSN, so we added it about a week and a half ago. My brother used to be an AU and he's pretty sure it reported for him. We all have the same last name and previous addresses, but different current addresses. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I am trying to rebuild my credit. My score is so low My FICO.com refunded my money. I have since removed medical collections and disputed collections that were my husbands and not mine. Still waiting on results.

The CRAs have put a fraud alert on my CR when I deleted old addresses.

My brother-in-law is going to put me on one of his accounts as an authorized user to help me rebuild credit until I can get a credit card of my own. My question is...will he be able to add me on his account with a fraud alert on my CRs?

I really need something revolving to help me out so I can get something of my own. I am planning on getting a credit rebuilder loan from our credit union. I just want to wait until I get the results back from the CRAs on my next dispute.

Any help will be appreciated.

Fraud alert should not affect his being able or unable to add you.

Just got approved for a CC with NFCU and tried to put wife on the account as an AU, NFCU does not report the AU to the CRA's kind of sucks, anyone know or heard of a way around this..

yeah I just spoke to someone else there, I just need to give them his SS and name and address and it should report

DW just added me to Citi online. The form only requested the name. No SSN, no DOB, nothing else about the AU.

Same for me when my wife (different last name) added me to her Barclays and CapOne Rewards. Neither shows on my CK. I added her to my Wal Mart only asked for a name.

Her AU Wal Mart has same account # on the card. My AU Barclays has a different account # from hers. Wal Mart shows on her CK. Neither CapOne or Barclays has shown up on my CK.

BofA reports to all 3 for me as an AU on my Dad's card. I added myself about a month ago and it never showed up. Then I changed his mailing address to my current address and it showed on my credit within days. They never asked for my social security number either.

Your credit is not linked.

+1 however you could be affected by CLD it would leave you with less avail credit and therefore a different utilization picture. It also could affect you at a later time if the card goes to delinquent and/or CO. If you are worried about this I would just terminate the relationship ASAP.

It's the DW card so I'm on top of the payments. Thankfully it's something I don't have to worry about.

Bumped the wrong thread earlier. ;)

I was added to my friend's (Non Spouse.. Different last name - Different address )

CITI reports across the board.

Discover reports only to TU

Something I don't quite understand: you claim your friend is not a spouse, has a different last name and a different address, yet the TLs are reporting on their CRs. How did the issuers know which report to add those TLs to since your friend is not related to you and Citi nor Discover require more than a First and Last name when adding an AU?

Take this example: let's say my name is John Smith and I want to add my best friend, Sam Jones who lives a few towns over as an AU to one of my cards. How would the issuer find the correct Sam Jones when they don't even know his SSN, DOB, address, etc.?

I've researched how AU report matching works extensively with no definitive answer how they match non-related AUs correctly.

Spouse added me to Discover. The online form asks if AU is a spouse. Of course we clicked yes. Reported to all 3 within days. (Not sure if it happened to coincide with normal monthly update.)

Spouse added me to Citi a couple of weeks ago. Doesn't ask relationship. Hasn't reported yet (only been a couple of weeks.) We're going to call this weekend and make sure they know this is spousal.

Same address, different last names.
