The Master Spousal / Non-Spousal Authorized User AU Reporting Thread

Recommended Posts

Authorized Users who are spouses should expect their AU accounts to be reported.

*IF* they are not reporting, contact the issuer to make sure they know the AU is a spouse.

For non-spousal AU accounts, it gets trickier.

Equifax is VERY aggressive about removing AU accounts.

To make an AU account look like it's a spousal one, it helps if

1) Primary & AU have the same surname

2) Live at the same address

3) Are of opposite sexes

CBers have reported success having Capital One report non-spousal AUs.

In my experience, BofA will also report non-spousal.

BWAUP v2.0 found that these cards DO NOT report non-spouses:

HSBC (Before CapOne takeover)

Lexus

RBS

UMB

Bob quick question I was reading your other AU thread. Is it true that if I get added as a AU non spousal on AmEX it will report? Also if I were to let that report for say 4 months then try to get my own AmEx would they back date the card to the original date? Just trying to understand how that works?

AmEx almost always reports ALL AUs.

HOWEVER, Equifax is known to remove those AmEx AU accounts.

You have to call AmEx to try to get backdated to the year of your AU card.

*IF* you can get backdated, all future cards you get will backdate to that year.

AmEx can be very vicious and vindictive.

One of my AUs who couldn't get her SSN card to me in time had her own AmExes closed.

She was willing to fly home from a business trip to get the card.

I told her not to sweat it, but I guess AmEx DID sweat it.

AmEx went in and removed all entries of my 1982 AmEx from her credit reports.

IOW, not just notate as "Closed by Issuer", BUT totally memory-holed.

Damn I guess there not messing around. I was just thinking how much benefit that would be to be able to get backdated. Has anyone of your AU non spousal been successful getting back dated with AmEx?

Oh, absolutely, quite a few have been able to get my 1982 Member Since Year.

I was readying the assembly line for literally hundreds of CBers when AmEx shut me down. :P

Do these report non-spousal AU's?

Navy Federal and Chase report AU's?

I don't have a Navy card, so I can't say.

I'm an AU on my little girl's Chase BA Visa Siggy.

Doesn't show up on my report.

I added myself to my mother's cards back in late spring. I live at the same address with her and my father. My father is a III and I am IV with identical names otherwise and often get parts of each other's credit reports smeared on each other very rarely. His driver's license says Jr on it from twenty plus years before I was born and his father had just past away.

Chase Slate from 1984 28k $10 in a monthly ID check fee.

BOA from 1998 2.5K hardly ever used at all

BOA 2003 2.5K hardly ever used at all

PNC 2008 7.5K hardly ever used at all

Doesn't show up on my report.

Chase Freedom VISA, Citi Dividend MasterCard, Fidelity Investment AMEX and Sallie Mae seem to report at least on TU since CreditKarma shows 'em.

Navy reports across the board. Helped my brother-in-law get a good start by adding him as an AU. They require SS#.

ETA: Not sure about his EQ. Don't know if they removed it or not. I haven't looked at it in a while.

I added my brother as AU on my (now closed) Capital One card and Lowe's accounts. Both reported. We have different last names, so there's no way one could assume we're related, and at the time we lived in sep. states.

Here is my scenario: My brother is an AU on a few of my cards, and my future fiance is an AU on a few, as well. Brother has a different address, but same last name, GF has different last name, but same address.

Brother is an AU on these, and ALL show up on every one of his credit reports:

  • Chase
  • Citi
  • Home Depot(I know, Citi)

GF is an AU on these, and ALL show up on every one of her credit reports(although Barclays seems to take two months to report any updates on Experian):

  • Chase
  • Citi
  • Home Depot
  • Barclays

With that being said, I need to see if I can get both added to my old HSBC/Yamaha account... Wonder when I'll be able to add them.

Attention CapOne AUs,

mine that is. :P

$30k Visa Siggy reporting today to Equifax & Experian for me.

One AU has already reported in as seeing it on Experian.

Don't get your hopes up for Equifax, since they are notorious for NOT reporting AUs.
