Had a 30 day on Comenity back in August (which I just realized when I pulled CRAs - only 30 day in past 3+years on any account and not really sure how it happened). Card was opened in late 2011 and have both carried a balance and PIFed at different times, but always paid on time regardless except for this payment.

  • Called CS on 3/5 - they stated they couldn't help over phone but to write to Credit Reporting dept.
  • Sent letter to Credit Reporting dept. on 3/6
  • No reply as of 3/25 so mailed a letter to the president of Comenity (based on Google search)
  • 3/28 received a response from Comenity saying reporting is accurate (my goodwill stated 'not sure if this is accurate or not but in any case, asking for your help')

I'll keep this thread updated to share the experience. My plan is to continue sending Goodwills until they come across the desk of a person who is willing to help. Would appreciate comments from anyone else who has had experience with Comenity and goodwills on lates.

No reply yet on letter number 2. About to send number 3...will post outcome.

I am using the address provided by their CS:

Comenity Bank

Delaware Corporate Center

One Righter Parkway, Suite 100

Wilmington, DE 19803

Does anyone have an alternate I should be using?

Today, I received a response to goodwill letter number 3...

"We are in receipt of your letter dated 5/2/2013 requesting that we investigate information reported on your credit file. To address your concern, we have updated our records and have notified the credit reporting agencies of the changes that need to be made to your credit report. This change should be reflected on your credit profile within the next 45 calendar days."

Sounds like they are extending the goodwill I requested and deleting the one 30-day late I had! I know, not a huge deal, and I will believe it when I see it, but I've been incredibly dejected by my slow progress of late (working hard to pay off balances, fighting collections and can't get my scores out of the 490-510 range when last year they were in the 620s). I hope it's true and they are deleting - will confirm when I see it on my reports.

And just pulled my USAA monitoring... EX has already updated and now shows perfect payment history (FAKO jumped 13 points so I knew something changed). Sweet!

Awesome. Tenacity wins!

I just wanted to post a final update for anyone in the same situation with Comenity. They did in fact remove the 30-day late notation from all three CRAs. Subsequently this month to look at my Loft Card balance and found they had apparently done some sort of account review. My credit limit went from $250 to $610. Woo-hoo!

My balance at the time was around $120. Account has been open since November 2011, and my pattern of use is typically to charge around $100-$200, then PIF over 3 months, then let it sit for a couple of months at $0 balance. I'm using a similar method on VS in hopes they bump me as well.

I used the address posted in this thread to send the goodwill and sent it first to the attention of the credit reporting department (which I was told to do by CS) and subsequently used two CS Executive names I pulled off Jigsaw. I hope this helps others. Thanks everyone for your assistance!

Thanks for posting this about Comenity. I have tried twice before to get a 30-day late removed from my credit report via Goodwill letters. 20 years of credit history and this is my only late payment. I thought I had a zero balance because I typically pay off each month... it was only a $21 balance. 1st reply came back and said they reviewed my record an it's accurate; that's it. I have not received a reply from the 2nd one, however I sent a 3rd today to the address in Delaware that was provided in this chain; so thanks so much for posting that. I also mentioned in my goodwill letter my other two accounts with Comenity (Pottery Barn & Ann Taylor) and how neither had had a late payment ever... those go back 9 years. I'll keep you posted. My credit was 765 and this dropped it to 694.

icarus, keep at it! I have a theory that with goodwill letters, you'll eventually have one opened by someone who empathizes (or is sick of hearing from you). Keep us posted - hope you're able to update with your success story!

Thank you for posting about your success. I have a 30 day late with Comenity/Lane Bryant (was in the process of moving and the bill got lost), and I've been wanting to try this!!!

Might I ask if you have a sample letter you used to send to Comenity?

Glad to hear of your success with Comenity :yahoo: I recently received a 30 day late with them which was an oversight on my part. I have six accounts with them and thought I paid all of them but only paid 5 :cry2: . I read this thread and tried sending a goodwill letter to the address you provided and was shot down the letter stated the entry was accurate. Can anyone provide any further suggestions? Is it possible I may be successful if, I send a letter to the Executive Offices? I had previous success sending an email to the CEO and he actually responded back and the issue was resolved. Help please.

I’ve had an account open with Comenity (Victoria’s secret) for 6 years. I have a total of 3 late payments, one in 2015 one in 2017 and then one this year 2019. I’m working on fixing my credit so I’m about to start the process of reaching out to Comenity to see if they can remove any of these late payments. Does anyone have a template of a goodwill letter I can use, or any advice? Any advice or tips will be greatly appreciated.

Your post in this older thread may go unnoticed as coming from someone new in need of help, so you might consider creating your own thread.

With that said...

Target specific Comenity executives by name and send written goodwill requests in your own words (do not send a letter to the credit reporting department, or even to the corporate HQ address with an opening like "to whom it may concern.").

Generally speaking, goodwill attempts don't have a high degree of success, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try.  It may take several attempts.

Be contrite, brief and humble.

Echoing that request...
