Hi Everyone!

Been away for the last week at "Advanced Greeting Theory" courses....*LOL*

What I am looking for is any insight as to what order I should execute my plan for February (plan at end of this post). I'm trying to maximize my credit lines as I continue to work towards pimp status.

I'm waiting for a few accounts to update at this end of this month, FICO's should be between 790-820. AAOA is 9.9 to 11 years depending on which CRA. My plan indicates which CRA has been historically pulled for the various accounts.

I have zero inquiries on TU, one on EQ (Penfed from December) and six inquiries on EX (almost all from last May and July).

I currently have EX frozen. Not ALL my accounts are shown, just the ones I plan on working with. All other NON-listed accounts are zero balance, 7-30 years old, etc.

While I have two NFCU products, am wondering if it makes sense to apply for the Flagship rewards and move limits?

My Wells Fargo VISA had no pull when opened, thinking it's because they hold one of my mortgages and do regular, soft inquiries.

I have a checking/savings account with Penfed now, have been holding off on apping for any cards until reports update.

My US Bank card started as a secured card many years ago, and graduated to a unsecured card at the end of the initial 12 months. Strangely, my DW's USB (opened at same time, secured, graduated) converted to a Visa Platinum all on it's own, mine is a lowly VISA that they no longer offer and will not do a product change on.

I'm also thinking about my Chase United Explorer Visa, the posts seem to suggest that a CLI is challenging if not impossible. The indications seem to be apply for a new product and move the limit. Wondering what other thoughts might be.

I'm also planning on apply for Penfed, Citi and BOA at some point. I plan on employing prybar methods where warranted.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

For NFCU, I would first request a CLI on the newer Platinum MC. Then PC your Platinum Visa to the Flagship and try to move the limit from the MC to the Visa. It's worth closing the MC to give you a huge limit. I would not suggest applying for a third card. Ideally you go from 2 to 1 card after this is done.

I would not waste time with Wells Fargo. They are not good with CLIs and you may waste an EX hard pull for nothing worth while. Just leaving it open and active isn't going to hurt you.

PenFed should be your first application.

Have you contacted the EO for US Bank? You might try that option. I would not close that card though because of the age. You could always apply for another US Bank card and move most of that limit if they refuse to PC. US Bank is known to move/combine limits.

The CSP/Freedom combo is more valuable for United miles than the United card. I would apply for both of these and when the United card is about to hit the 1 year mark, move the limit to the 2 other cards. You can try to get a pre approvals for these cards with EX frozen which would result in TU being pulled.

Citi still has the 50K offer on the AAdvantage Platinum Select MC and Barclays still has the 50K US Airways offer as well. The Citi Diamond doesn't have any rewards.

I would suggest the following order:

PenFed app-EQ

Citi app-EX and/or EQ

NFCU CLI-EQ most likely

NFCU PC to Flagship/move limit-EQ most likely

USAA CLI-EQ

Freeze EX

Barclays app-TU

Chase Freedom app from pre qual-TU

CSP app from pre qual-TU

BOA app-call and ask them to pull TU after you complete the app

You'll have to decide what to do with US Bank and where it fits in here. I don't have a US Bank card and have no experience with them.

Any thoughts from our members on US bank?

As a financial institution, I personally think they suck sewer water. That's coming from my interaction with them and their merchant services business.

Can't really say how they are as a card issuer, but I would have low expectations.

Any thoughts from our members on US bank?

Just got a standard 1.5k 6 month SP CLI (instantly appproved), if you ask for more it generally goes to U/W and most likely results in a HP.

Cash+ got nerfed but if you can use current categories to good effect consider app it and transfer limit of current card, FWICT from profile looks like you'd be a prime candidate for nice initial limit on an additional USB cc, in any case.

Where did you see the button?

By "instant" I meant the csr put it through and then said, "congrats..." Thought I saw a luv button but it was a long time ago and don't recall where it's located. Can call the number on the card, from main menu say/select: 'account changes', 'credit increase', auto attendant indicates if transferring to complete the request with a csr...have seen some posts that USB CLI requests often goes to U/W review, dunno, but perhaps those were for larger amounts.

So, I pulled the trigger on the PenFed Platinum Rewards Visa Signature Card this morning.

"Under review by a loan officer, please wait 24 hours". No HP yet.

Guess I'll see in the next 24 hours on my "Path to Pimpdom".

Next, I plan on getting a CLI on my NFCU M/C, and if that works, get a PC on my NFCU Visa to the Flagship Rewards and transfer the balance from the M/C.

Good luck to you Quietman..

My mom had the same thing happen. Then it showed an approval for 17,500 which later pulled back to 5k. I immediately recond via luv button and had her start off with 15k.

A lofty and admirable goal... good luck!

So got home and checked the app status on PenFed's website:

Good news, APPROVED

Not so good: $5K

Guess I'll call for a recon tomorrow.

Not exactly the foul stench of defeat, but definitely a scent of falafel.......

Even if you don't get a higher CL, with your scores you should start getting quarterly pre approvals and can probably get a CLI from that.

You should've hit the luv button right away. That's what I had done.
