I thought the EO had more power.

Didn't realize they can't do anything except waive and remove a AF...

I thought they would at least know the appropriate department if someone had an actual issue.

I'm going to give Cap One EO a call tomorrow and see if I can get my limits combined. I have 4 of their cards. I'll report back here with my results.

Great, thank you.

I spoke with Cap One EO (Belinda). She informs me they do not combine limits. After interrogating me as to how I got that specific phone number, she offered to initiate a manual review for a CLI and APR reduction on one or two of the cards. I pressed more toward combining the limits and she then suggested the possibility of closing a few of my cards. She stated something to the affect that my limits are lower because they are spread over 4 cards and if I have less cards I could possibly be eligible for a higher limit on those specific cards (aka: max exposure). Anyhow, I may try again with a different EO rep another day. I think Shifter was calling today, too, so I'm curious as to his results.

odd.

I've called them about a dozen times

and never had anyone ask how I knew the number.

I called the number found here: http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=508282

Which is the same number Belinda left on my vm when we got disconnected and I had to call her back.

That was her first question and she was very persistent to know how I got that number and whether a CSR provided it to me.

I simply told her I googled Capital One's phone number and that's what I came up with, which is technically true since I used the google search feature on CB to locate the number. ;)

However, I should have told her that I kept note of it from when Cap One EO (Evan) contacted me back in February regarding my accounts.

I haven't read anyone else getting the third degree about calling EO, so I was taken off-guard with the unexpected interrogation.

Usually it's the PwWs that have attitudes.

That may be a YMMV situation. Last time I dealt with a guy and, without question, he was much friendlier and more helpful than the woman I dealt with today.

When I call back for my second attempt to combine limits, I'm going to specifically ask for the guy I worked with previously.

I'd like to hear in this thread from anyone who's attempted to combine limits on Wells Fargo and/or Discovery. Of the largest issuers, those are notably absent from my list.

If you have experience with ANY issuer (listed here or not), feel free to add your anecdote and I'll include it in the list.

CITI UPDATE

Was approved for a Citi Hilton Honors Card yesterday and Citi requested more information.

Chat window popped up and said it can complete the app through a chat.

Was approved for the card.

I called the Recon Dep and requested a higher line, to which there response was " We can't do that, as the application is processing. Please wait until the card is showing in our system."

Called back today and spoke to Reg CS to check if the account posted yet and it was.

I requested a CLI and was denied and was transferred to a UW.

Was approved for a partial amount for the CLI

I asked about reallocating some of my other credit from other cards and she said she could move whatever I would like.

I decided not too at the end

But it seems like after requesting a CLI and speaking to a UW, you may be able to Combine Limits

it's well known

that you can move limits from other cards

if it's the only way to get you approved for the new card.

This wasn't for an approval.

I was already approved

It was a CLI request for additional credit and I was offered to reallocate credit from an existing card if I wanted since the CLI was only partially approved.

except the card was brand new.

Correct

The card is brand new

Except I didn't speak to a UW from new accounts at least according to the UW.

She said she only dealt with current accounts and because my card showed up in citi's system, she was able to speak to me.

I would try this with my other 2 citi cards, but I recently got cli's on both of them

I just called for the first time Barclay's to transfer a portion of CL from Ring MasterCard (8% apr, no fees but no rewards) to Priceline since my AU on that card is building points for me...

He said he could it and it would be instantaneous...

I asked him if there was an "easier" way to raise my limit on the Priceline but I didn't want to hit the online LUV button because it results in a hard pull. Sometimes more than just one CRA...

He told me to hold... and when he came back online he said my Priceline was now 15k (from from 7.9k)

I said how is that possible, my RING was only at 5k.. He said he didn't touch the CL and they just decided to up my limit on the Priceline...

He also verified no hard pulls.. so I'll watch MPM the next few days to verify...

Maybe next time

they'll raise it to 75k without asking.

wouldn't that be nice LOL

Maybe next time

they'll raise it to 75k without asking.

And if they won't, there's always Photoshop.

Why would one use photoshop?? :-)

Because if you want a $300K Amex, that's the only way to do it.
