More and more this is being done away with.

I know not too long ago that PNC offered it but I have no idea if they still do. That was probably 2-3 years ago.

And it's not what you asked, but: I'll never open a joint account with my wife. I'd much rather have the ability to have 2 of anything we want, and it gives us a chance to have a more diverse credit profile.

I completely agree with you. However, in this particular situation, I need to very quickly get a number of positive accounts up for an individual with extremely limited history.

Are there any other known entities that still allow joint applicants?

Discover will. You need to call and ask. I believe there is a hard pull and they need to qualify. A few years ago BOA allowed it as well, again it had to be done via call and they mailed out an application. In both cases however you couldn't apply jointly. One person had to app and be approved, then request the joint.

There are reasons to do a joint. I had to for a short time when most issuers stopped using household income and instead wanted individual. It wasn't a credit issue, it was an income issue.

Now that I make more it's no longer a problem, but for a while, my DW made *considerably* more money than me, and, as a result, our joint mortgage reflected our household income, and, for our household income was quite reasonable. However, against my income solely, it made it appear that I had a debt to income ratio (total debt payments divided by gross income) of over 75%, which most lenders run from. SOME would take into account the fact the mortgage was joint and halve it, but not always.

That's about the only situation where someone might *have* to do a joint app. Or, as a more specific example, a stay-at-home parent with NO income may also have to do so.

Chase will. One has to open the account and then call Chase to add the other. They will mail you a form to fill out and mail back. I did it to add my daughter as a joint to help her credit.

Wells Fargo Does

+1. My SO made me a joint owner on an 11 year old WF card... Really helped my AAOA. I was added after the card had been open for several years.

My sister applied for Discover IT online and was declined however they gave her the option of reconsideration with someone else as a joint on the account. She entered my email and I was given a link to complete the app. Approved of course, not sure of the amount.
