So if you had $2000 that you were willing to have tied up for 2 - 3 years, where would you put it for the safest investment with the highest rates?

I dunno but you definitely need to get it out of that wimpy savings account that is not paying anything. Even putting it into HSBC or ING would be a better investment.

 

You probably want to avoid the stock market since you want a safe investment. Have you considered TBills or Bonds?

I would not gamble it away on stocks or chance investments.

 

BBQ is right on, drop it in a good paying 24 month CD.

Nope, don't owe money except to the mortgage company. APR is around 6% I think.

 

Have credit cards, don't carry a balance.

personally, with the fed about to raise rates again I would hold off on any long term (2 year) CD's for a bit.

 

HSBC is at 4.80 right now for online savings... I would put it there (HSBCdirect.com) or Emigrantdirect or wherever had the highest rate, then shop after August's Fed meeting.

I read the teaser page and assumed it was fidelity itself issuing the CDs. they are simply the selling agent. The 5.4% APY is available from three companies. IIWY, I'd buy directly from them.
