US Bank DOES unsecure with 12 month history and decent scores. Read my threads here:

I highly advise everyone to not open a WF secured card.

They refused to unsecure my card at 12 months and proceeded to tell me it has to be 13 months which is a complete lie according to my paperwork and their website.

They offered no reason other than it is their policy.

I have been a customer for 10 years with them.

Never again.

FYI - They actually unsecured my card after 11 months and provided a very healthy CLI.

So I sent off applications for US Bank secured and Capital One Secured. Anyone know how long US bank will get back to me and how aside from email. Will they call or mail me back?

Capital One Secured.

Huh? I didn't that Cap One secured was around anymore.

Yep, I got my denial letter yesterday. My US Bank card came in though! I'm stoked!

yes...good turn around time... cant wait. and a credit card says a thousand words. great ice-breaker with a cute cashier. i viewed cap one app online... thats one thing i like is you can pick the look of the card. any others do that? marketing idea: allow customers to upload an image to go on new cards.... they would RAKE in customers. also would make a nice thread chat: if you could put your own image on your favorite CC.

Oasis Program at American Express is not a secured card issuance. The program gives former cardholders that defaulted an opportunity to redeem themselves. In exchange for recovering my charged off account in full, they issued me an Optima Card for half of my original credit line (minimum credit line $500). No hard pulls from any of the credit bureaus. No lengthy app to fill out. Just sign the brief acceptance form sent to you after your payment clears the bank.

Now the bad news, to qualify, you cannot have a bankruptcy. :dntknw:

I'm confused. Capital One SECURED or Capital One 'platinum' crappy credit unsecured? I didn't think Cap One offered *secured* anymore, but instead gave $200 credit lines to reasonably lousy credit. Any links for this one? I've gotta see this. :clapping:

Anyone have the link for BofA Secured?

http://www.bankofamerica.com/creditcards/i...late=cc_secured

However, if you have baddies on your reports, this is not the card for you. Its NOT an easy card to get.

I have a Bofa secured with a limit of $500. I do have some baddies on my report. 1 unpaid collection on all three CR, 1 paid tax lien on EQ, EX and TU and a paid civil judgement on TU and EQ.

Also, when I applied, they asked me for a $99 deposit and then gave me a $500 after they took the deposit out of my bank account.

It depends on the baddies, for example, BofA won't issue even a secured card if a BK is showing on the account, even a very old one. I know from experience.

I would like to know why certain secured cards are almost NEVER talked-about or able-to-be-applied-for online? Banks act like they are some sort of 'closet transaction' that they are ashamed of.

Also, these types of cards were advertised in the past as having two really nice advantages

1) After 11-12 months of successful, no-late payments--they used to guarantee graduation to unsecured credit (most wont do this anymore unless you also qualify (credit-score-wise) I would argue that one year isn't long enough to turn around credit unless every waking hour you spend for 12 months involves you fixing your credit)

2) they would not notify anyone that it was secured so that if you applied for credit elsewhere, it would look as though you were handling unsecured credit well.

Anyone know of any other info?
