It's not a myth!

Thanks. I can't imagine how many people are filling this out right now! :P Don't forget to keep us posted on whether or not you were approved, and if denied, the reasons for denial. Good luck, all!

Does anyone know if you can apply for this card with a BK?

Very good question. I heard mixed messages about how BK friendly they are. First, I heard that if you filed BK and even discharged they would approve the application. Then I heard, as long as you were discharged, they would approve the application.

Any BK people in the house???!!!???

So is it advisable to fill out this downloaded application and mail it in with my MO or Cashiers Check? Or, is there a link to it on their website? If so, what is the link?

Thanks

ALSO...What does the card look like? Does it report as secured with the CRAs?

i had emailed citi and asked them if it was online, here is the responce

Dear *****,

Thank you for your message regarding a Citibank Credit Card

that is secured by an 18-month Certificate of deposit (CD)

account.

The reason why you are not able to locate a link for this

type of credit card account is because you can only apply

for this credit card at a Citibank Financial Center. This

offer is not available online.

If you have further questions, please send a message or

call My Citi Online Customer Service at 1-800-374-9700.

Representatives are available to assist you 24 hours a day

7 days a week.

Thank you for using My Citi. We appreciate the opportunity

to serve you.

Sincerely,

My Citi Online Customer Service

so yes print it and send it in with the $$$$$$$$$$

btw.......... does anyone know what they poll for this one?

I was told that while the Citibank MasterCard is secured (for 18 months), It will not be reported to the Credit Bureaus. It would only be reported to the Credit bureaus when the card becomes unsecured. I was also told that they do not prorate the date open to the date you opened the secured card, but the date it becomes an unsecured card.

Ummm. Didn't I read somewhere this is a TOOL to establish credit history or to build it? How in the hell could you do so with a non-reporting card? I would think it is reported as an open tradeline, secured or unsecured is the question. Wouldn't you think??

I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't report to the credit bureaus... The application I have for the City secured card says "Building Credit Is Easier Than It Seems"... It would be pretty hard to build credit if the card didn't in fact report to the credit bureaus...

Has anyone applied for and gotten this card... I've been holding off so that someone else could take the plunge (and more importantly because I haven't saved the money up for the initial $250 deposit yet)...

I'm also curious if this is more like Elan and NC where almost everyone gets approved or if it's more like the BofA and Wells Fargo secured where they're a little tougher on accepting people even though the card is secured.

Inquiring minds want to know any success stories about this card!!!

I think you are the guinea pig... Good luck... we're rooting for you... And can you elaborate on being blacklisted on other cards or let us know your scores if you do get approved (it sounds like you did if they cashed the check)...

This sounds like a good card to get.

Thanks.

I check this thread daily to see how you do. I have money set aside for another secured card, it'll either be this or some other one. Keep us posted! :P:grin::lol:
