No relation to FAKO trends? :P

Actually, it's kind of fun to reverse engineer FAKOs, like the PLUS score, and see where they get scoring wrong.

Like Experian inquiries hurting right up till they drop off. :D

That's unusual, most people fall right into that 50 point range.

Yeah I was kinda bummed to find it so far off, because I can't use it to estimate. I have one baddie (Citi) I PFB'd a GW letter to, and I'm on the edge of my seat to see if they respond and if it gets me in the 800 club. I was 660 in September!

I just ran the Estimator on my Experimental Subject:

AU account excluded: 680 - 730 (TU FICO 08 of 679)

AU account included: 730 - 780 (Eq FICO 04 of 747)

All of my hard pulls typically have me hovering around the low-700s, so this sounds about right. Probably should garden a bit and get that AAOA above 8 months.

Inquiries will drop from your credit report after two years, and hard inquiries will only affect your score for the first year. According to Paperno, the impact doesn't diminish throughout the first year, so postponing a new inquiry for a few months after taking on a car loan wouldn't really make a difference. A new inquiry made tomorrow would count the same as one made three months from now.

I'm pleased to see someone from Fair Isaac set the record straight on length of a hard inq's impact (no diminishing effect during first 12 mos). Great quote. :good:

Even if they are misleading. I disagree with the gentleman representing Fair Isaac.

This thing always works for me. I think it approximates clean report scores better than dirty ones.

That makes sense to me. A clean report is always easier on so many different levels.

The simulator regularly lies to me. I'm anxious to see what my new mortgage does to my scores when it reports on the 1st.

there are just so many variable the simulator can't take into account in order to give a more approximate score.

Best Profile

2-4 credit cards = 775 - 825

5 or more = 780-830

It's interesting that you can get that same best score range in the score simulator without any kind of loan (mortgage, etc...)...just credit cards. But reversing it drives the score way down into the 700s. We see where FICO focuses its attention, but we already knew that, of course.
