Yet another debt collector for Asset Acceptance is calling my darn cell phone (so sad they've somehow found this number!!) with a recorded message that says "This call is for Polly Pocket. By listening to this message, you are admitting you are Polly Pocket. This is Al soandso, debt collector for Asset Acceptance." Oh please. Do they really have a way of knowing whether I listen to the message or not? ha And they've called 4 times this morning, and its only 11 am here.

Thought I read in that other thread how there's a couple violations with this. Since it's worded different perhaps pryan can chime in again on this one to say if it's violation time or not.

They have no way of proving anything, maybe you dropped your cell phone in the subway.

seems like this is a spin on a message that came up a few days ago "B not hanging up now you are admitting that this is the person wo whom I am speaking and you owe this debt"

Yeah I have gotten this message at times.

Maybe change your recording ... "By listening to this

message, you admit you are harrassing me and that

you agree to compensate me for each federal law you

have violated. Press (1) to pay $1,000 per violation,

press (2) to pay $2,000 per violation ... ." (Not serious!)

But it won't work for you, and it won't work for them,

either.

AA are a bunch of ya'knows......These clowns still call my mothers house (in Michigan) after a C&D letter that came from my house in Georgia! I called them before sending the C&D letter to give them my cell number so they would stop calling my mother. After hanging up with them they called my phone and when I answered they hung up. Since then they continue to call my mother in Michigan and have never called my cellphone. Beyond all of that, my supposed debt is from what I recall 8-9 years old. (way out of SOL.) Apparently not listening and being stupid = qualifications to collect for these morons.

When I got tired of calls I played around on youmail. you can set up different voicemails for different incoming numbers.

turned out to be the most fun i have ever had in regards to credit repair etc. ;) Not to mention getting rid of the ex

You should report them to the Michigan AG....

Another member had set up selective call forwarding to route their calls right back to their own number. ;)

I got a couple calls like this last week for someone that doesn't live at my address. I called them and told them I don't know so-and-so (I do, but I have no idea where on Earth they are) and to stop calling my home. He said they would take my number off the account. We'll see if that ends up being true.

You should get somebody from creditboards to call them on your behalf and tell them that the CA is calling their cellphone. Then have them state the section of the FDCPA they are violating and ask them when they will be sending you a check for $1,000 for their violation.

Have you sent them a limited C&D letter requesting that they no longer contact you?

They've left messages for DH in the past like that... I always laugh my butt off when I hear them...

That's me!!!! I also sometimes forward them to each other - like AA gets forwarded to NCO and so on.:swoon::lol:

I've had my phone number a year and still get collection calls for the previous owner.

 That's a riot!

Can you just picture them scratching their heads?:lol::lol:

Each one assuming the collector on the other end of the phone was lying, lol.

I know that's you Mr. Deadbeat. You aren't fooling anyone.

me too. i like to have a little fun and usually get on them about 3rd party disclosure... they argue they didn't disclose anything, i argue they did since i know its a debt collection call. I went on for a good 10 min with A$$ once.

FWIW, I think this message violates 3rd party disclosure because the CA has no way of knowing the debtor is the only one using the # or that they still own the #.

I have a brand-new phone number, never before assigned. It's also unlisted/unpublished.

I started getting collection calls for the previous owner of the house, sometimes 2 a day from different CA's. Somehow the CA's have associated the address with the phone number, ignoring the fact that neither is registered to the name they are looking for.

I tell them the house was foreclosed and the previous owner's location is unknown. They call right back in a day or two asking for the same person.

They think I have paperwork with the prev. owner's new address on it related to the sale. I don't, I bought the house directly from the bank. salamanders don't understand that.

I may have to write some letters eventually, lol. Except I don't get many other calls and it's sorta fun to play with the salamanders. :)

yep... but i finally did C&D/ITS A$$. Told them to stop calling and remove the number from the acct and if i ever got another call from them, i'd sue for harassment. sent it on my biz letterhead, since the # is in my biz acct name.
