I don't remember the last time a conclave met. I was 6 when John Paul II was elected.

It'll be neat watching the white smoke and see history being made!

(I still miss that good man, John Paul II, though!)

I was in Rome back in 1978 when John Paul I was elected. 30 days later, he was dead. I was also in St. Peters' Square for a while waiting for the smoke to signal the election of JP II. I was not there at the exact moment the smoke appeared, but at least I got to feel what it was like in the Square with all the peoples...

A bit later I was back in Rome and got to see the newly elected JP II from about 20 feet away, in his new Batmobile with bulletprooof glass.

He was a good person, I think.

Pavlov,

What were you doing in Rome? I wish I could have attended the Pope's funeral in Italy.

My diocese had a memorial Mass the Monday after his death. I called out of this job for the first time ever (been there almost 2 years) to attend it (somethings you just have to do).

My boss was ticked. She asked me the next day if I could have told her about the Mass the week before for scheduling purposes.

I looked at her with a serious expression on my face.

Me: "No ma'am. He died Saturday. Plans were finalized late Sunday. I called out Monday. I could not possibly have let you know last week about this Mass."

I've been told to make small purchases you can pay off in full when you get the bill. This way your card remains active, and that's what will help build your credit. The positive activity. Having the cards alone won't help.

:P

Keeping the boss thinking, eh?

I was in Rome as part of a 1 year tour of Europe. It is quite a place!

I heard they judge each other competitively on performance with altar boys. Highest scores go through to the next round until the champion is elected pope.

That's probably why they exclude the press.

Having been raised in a RC household I am highly offended by some of the posts within this thread.....NOT!

No matter what, I still enjoy seeing the history being made.

I must be a horrible Catholic. I don't know if I should be offended, Laugh, agree, whatever. My first reaction was to laugh.

Is that supposed to be funny? I don't think any abuse victims would think so...

John XII (955 - 964): Just 18 years old when he was elected pope, John was a notorious womanizer and the papal palace came to be described as a brothel during his reign. It is perhaps fitting that he died of injuries sustained when he was caught in bed by the husband of one of his mistresses. Some legends say that he died of a stroke while in the act.

I don't see anything funny about sexual abuse.

May the next Pope be as good and loved as the last Pope...this wish comes from a Lutheran...

May the light of the Holy Trinity guide the new Pope and I hope that this new Pope will be a universally loved by all people as the last one was.

John Paul II may you rest in the loving arms of Jesus Christ for all eternity.

Peace and love be with all peoples regardless of their beliefs.

So what exactly is your point here, Flacorps? Who ever said a Pope or a priest for that matter was sinless? That claim has never been made by anyone, especially the Catholic Church. Is it that you just get some kind of pleasure out of priest bashing?
