The thread needs the Family Guy Discover clip.

Trust me, if I wasn't on a mobile device I would have posted it by now. Videos never embed properly from my tablet.
If you're posting a YouTube clip from your phone or tablet, it will automatically create a mobile url. Just take the "m." Out of the link and it should embed and also make sure you are on full version of website on CB Edited by Captivated

I highly doubt that the double points will count on the 5% categories or on shop Disco.

I think all of the recent CLI's and now this are tied in to the utter failure of the Disco "Miles" card.

The Miles card Flunked?
We are on a credit geek forum and I barely hear a peep about it.
Maybe we're biased? ;)
Even the Disco fanboi club we have on here doesn't apply for the "Miles" card. People here have 5 CapOne's, 4 Chase, 12 Comenity, 5 Sync...one cool flowers mofo has 7 AMEX.

I don't see anyone in the Disco CLI thread (the gathering point of Disco fanboiz from around the nation) mentioning "Miles".

This isn't a popular credit card company. I was in two places last week that didn't take Discovery. One was a restaurant... and I don't remember the other.

I went somewhere yesterday that only took cash, check, or Discover. I was shocked. Had to eat the ATM fee, which will hopefully get reimbursed. I never use cash anymore except to pay my barber.

I've never been ganked on the bonus cashback. And I check every month.

Just sayin

I get all of the money coming to me also - and - in addition - I also get the 5% at the Sam's club gas station when gas is the rotating quarterly category... when it eludes to the fact that you do not.....yet I do :)

Why would anyone only have 7 AMEX?

Should have been 8, but there was a problem with the Surpass app. (It was the 4th card in under 30 days). 6 of the 7 are still all within a 5 month window. Edited by Konrad2012

My car got towed in Chicago once. At the time the City lot only took cash and Diners Club when you went to retrieve your car.

Even it's only the baseline 1% being doubled, it will still be useful for me. Right now I have a QS for all the spend that falls through the cracks, had thought about getting a Citi double cash but without a bonus it just didn't make sense to take the new account hit to make .5% more on not much spend. Now I can just use the Disco at 2% and wait out a Citi bonus, should it ever come.

Don't hold your breathe for a double cash bonus. A non-cobranded, no AF, flat 2% card isn't going to float a bonus of more than $50 or $100 bucks.

I think there are only 4 entries for the Discover it Miles card in creditpulls.

I would consider that card for the 3% CB in year one (although half is delayed for a year).

I would especially consider it if anyone confirms that Discover will combine limits.

You can combine limits with Disco (or at least you could in the past). My wife had a more card, which I was then added as a joint account holder to. We also had individual IT cards and we rolled those into it as well. Was done via a call with regular CS.

Yes, wish I had a couple more. Plus I'm going to lose my Costco so eventually I'll be left with only 2 D* AMEX. The other 4 are business accounts.

I hope AMEX pulls their heads out and lets us PC these Costco cards to something else.

Thanks, CTSox.

Has anyone had a recent experience combining limits with Discover?

(to confirm that haven't changed their policy)

I see no reason to think you are going to lose your D* Costco.

IIRC, when AMEX lost the Costco account in Canada, all Costco cardholders were PC'd to a new card AMEX created specifically for that purpose. I see no reason to think that will not happen here. Has there been any announcement otherwise?

Citi is purchasing the US portfolio. In Canada, Cap One just became the new card servicer, I don't believe they did the portfolio purchase.

I've tried like 5 times now to PC Costco to EDP.

I thought this was a Discover cash back thread.

When did this become the RIP Amex D* thread?

One day Tweak, you to shall have an AMEX. Don't hate in the meantime. :P

Not hating at all.

I benefit vicariously from my wife's Amex BCP.

I'm also not the president of the Disco fanboi club.

But they do serve a purpose, they are far from the worst issuer, and there are recent signs that they may be getting better.

Costco Canada and Costco US are handling this differently.

For Canadians, Costco ended their Amex relationship, started accepting MasterCard, and forged a co-branded relationship with Capital One. The Costco Amex ceased existing, with Amex transitioning cardholders to the SimplyCash card, which was not newly created for this purpose. It was an existing product, though somewhat newer (it was the equivalent to what the Everyday/Everyday Preferred are today).

In the US, while Costco is transitioning from Amex to Visa/Citi, Citi is purchasing the portfolio from American Express. So, you'll keep your Costco card, only it will be issued by Citi and on the Visa network.

I called in this morning to sign up. There seems to be a few different stories running around about how the program will work. Here is what I was told, it may not be correct but it's what was told to me.

At the end of the promotion your cashback for the previous 12 months will be doubled, including 5% categories. It sounds very similar to the Miles promotion but I am doubtful the 5% categories will double to 10%. Hopefully the program details will be posted on their site soon to clear everything up.

I was told the same thing. Program begins at the start of your next billing cycle. At the end of 12 months, you will receive double cashback, provided the card is still open, not in default, etc. I asked specifically about the 5% categories and the Discover Deals and was told that yes, those will be doubled as well.

If that is the case, this is a hell of a promo. 10% on the rotating categories, 2% everywhere else and double the cash back on the deals.

Wow...I'm so glad I got the Discover it...now I'm just patiently waiting for it to arrive in the mail...tick tock...tick tock...
