Consolidating Inquries due to recent Auto Purchase??

I'm curious if anyone can give me direction on possible way to bring down the number of recent inquires showing on credit report.

 

DH & I purchases a new used vehicle in Feb and the 2 dealerships that ran our credit, on 2 consecutive days, & pulled inq. with several different lenders in the process& even the same lender on 2 seperate days. This is now showing average of 6-8 new inquires on the CRAS for this 2 day period of car shopping.

 

We had an approval at first dealership but walked away without purchasing anything, for several reasons. We found a much nicer car & better loan with another dealer the following day.

 

I've heard that there is a way to bring the number of inquirys down in situations like this? Any advice??? Who do I speak with/write to and what do I ask for// info to send them??

OP asked for help getting rid of inquiries. There are pitfalls to disputing inquiries, which is a direction I feared that s/he was heading.

That's why I suggested B*, so as not to risk more serious credit consequences than having a few extra inquiries.

Easy there sparky. I had to say it. Anywho, I don't think cv was trying to be rude. Members who try to help out as many people as they can with their experiences or knowledge sometimes try to make responses short and sweet, which some may take as insensitive or rude. CV's points are valid and meant to make sure that the OP doesn't go getting themselves into CRA trouble.

I found the answer to be straight and to the point. I find cv91915 to be rather helpful....and he or she even provided a link.

What you may have seen is that for scoring purposes, the inquiries will all be counted as one. This really means nothing as they will all still be there and can and will lead to denials due to too many inquiries. Usually if you speak to a human they can ignore the inquiries that are related to a mortage or automobile loan and still approve you, but most systems will not.

 

In the future, I suggest going to just a few places on your own and get approved for the loan. Credit Unions really shine here with typically lower rates, and most of the time will use the same pull for a certain period of time, so you can also get a credit card with them from the same inquiry. I got 2.74% and all the dealerships I went to all had the lowest at 3.99 and that is just too much.
