An option not mentioned is your auto insurer. I know Progressive offers gap insurance.

Is this a scam? A surprise “foreign transaction” fee
honesty848 replied to hegemony's topic in Credit Forum
I've found that Chase won't charge a fee, as long as the purchase is put through in dollars regardless where the swipe occurs. OTOH, Citi will charge you no matter what. -
Can someone please tell me if this letter is as creepy as I think it is
honesty848 replied to jaided's topic in Credit Forum
I don't really see any problem with the letter. It essentially states that you can't sue the OC or anyone that represents them after the settlement of the account. My interpretation is that this doesn't preclude you from pursuing damages in connection with another account. If the other terms of your settlement are agreeable to you, I see no problem with this. -
Credit Union changed online bill payment times

Thx Anubis! Glad I'm not the only one annoyed by this! I get this feeling there will be a charge someday for "next day payments" or something like that. They (the banks and CU's) have gotten us used to online bill paying and depending on how you want the bill paid, they will offer a free method (via slow poke snail mail) or electronic fast pay. Just can't win sometimes I notice the bank gets the float time on the checks they are mailing so maybe it's tied to that too. They're all bastages I tell ya! I'm done ranting now..thanks for reading and commenting. I appreciate it! Turns out I was right about my credit union will now start charging for faster payments starting March 26, 2012. For same day payments - $9.95 Overnight Payments -$15.95 I've all but stopped using my CU's bill pay service because everything was taking too long except for my electric bill which is still next day posting. Time for a new CU? Also, perhaps you can have some your bills like the Comcast one autopay to a cc? I've been with this CU for 20 years this year. I will keep watching them, but I certainly won't pay their fees. I've been pulling payments instead of pushing them from Bill Pay. So far, that's still free! May have to go back to paper checks and stamps if I have to! I can appreciate wanting to remain loyal, but if a CU or any other business no longer suits your needs and there are others that will, why not go to the one that will? That doesn't mean you need to close the old CU account. -

I dealt with these guys in connection with a Cap One chargeoff. I DV'd them and they went away.

+1 to the prior post.. I've purchased 2 vehicles with nothing down and rolled in tax & tags with no problem. I also used CU financing. I'd recommend springing for the gap insurance. My CU has a blanket policy and charges $150 all-in for the life of the loan. Good luck.

You can pay the IRS using a cc. There's a 1-2% "convenience" fee for paying this way.

One could argue that revolving credit is a test of a person's discipline and projects how they will handle credit. Installment loans are one bite at the apple; a credit card is an everlasting temptation to max it out at any moment. ETA: FICO by its nature can't be discriminatory. It's a means for a possible creditor to judge the credit risk they are assuming without interviewing you personally.

Dv to ensure that you're paying the right collector. Then I'd recommend a payment plan. You may be able to negotiate a settlement if you can come up with a decent chunk.
-
How much is the debt? Obviously it isn't my $ and it's easy for me to tell to "just pay it".. but if it's $50 or no mortgage is it really worth it? Are you able to pay this at closing via your title agent? You should negotiate whatever discount you can get, get that in writing, and have it paid at closing.

I believe more details regarding your exact complaint would allow for a good response. Also, what state are you in, is this SOL, did you ask for a limited C&D or a full C&D?
-
At least in my case, this is false. I sent 2 previous dv requests and received a bs response and then no response. They very well could've just changed their strategy.

Need help with response to BBB dispute
honesty848 replied to ihatecollections's topic in Credit Forum
The dates do but the balance is $1100 higher than the oc. How you should proceed depends on your end goal. At the very least, ou can ask for how they calculated what they say you owe. Many would advise not to poke the bear unless the sol has run. Right now, you really have 2 options; pay or go hide. -

Well, the CA doesn't need to show up with a green card; they can rely on the mailbox rule. To the topic at hand, it appears that Asset has validated. Does the statement from the OC match or is fairly close to what's on your CRAs?
