  1. This being the second Happy B'Day in this thread...to Echo... Who else wants to join me in my corner? BTW, hap' birth' to ya.
  2. we own, well buying, I wish the mortgage was paid off, darn lottery won't let me win. mdw2006, Does your DS qualify as a dependent under the qualifying relative test? I am not sure what that is? mdw2006, Here's a link to the definition of "qualifying child" http://www.irs.gov/publications/p17/ch03.html#en_US_publink1000170876 Here's a link to the definition of "qualifying relative" http://www.irs.gov/publications/p17/ch03.html#en_US_publink1000170933 If your DS qualifies as a "qualifying child" or "qualifying relative", then he's worth $3650 (based on 2009 standards) to you as an exemption that reduces your adjusted gross income to a lower taxable income by $3650. If you decide to charge rent, then you'll be looking at extra tax fun with Schedule E. I call it "extra tax fun" because, you'd have to calculate the pro-rata share of your mortgage interest payment between: a ) personal use b ) rental income. Then the part of the mortgage interest paid applicable towards rental income would offset the rental income. The rest of the mortgage interest paid would go on your Schedule A as an itemized deduction. Note, since some of the mortgage interest paid will be "used up" towards offsetting your rental income, that'll result in a lower mortgage interest paid "leftover" to reduce your adjusted gross income deduction which would result in a higher taxable income. Your taxable income may go up if you charge more rent than the proportional mortgage interest paid portion attributable towards rental income. However, if you charge less rent than the proportional mortgage interest paid, then the overall loss would carry over to your taxable income line. So, hey, if you like to calculate a portion of: 1) mortgage interest piad 2) utility pro-rata share 3) any other expenses on a pro-rata share basis every month for a year, then charging rent would be for you. Otherwise, as the Beatles once sung o/~ Let it bee, let it beee....o/~

  5. punkinbee59, I see some food on your list have gluten... does your tummy feel like it's bloated and queasy? you feel tired after eating glutenized food....like someone just poured lead into your body? here's a challenge: don't eat pasta, breads, cake, cookies, for two weeks...and slowly re-introduce them back in...and note how you feel without gluten and with gluten. Adding another factor to the above.

  8. They do look kind of silly, don't they? I just took a body sculpt class today, and cannot do push ups to save my life. I got through about 4 very shaky ones before my arms gave out...sigh!! My problem areas are my back, my tricep areas and by belly. If I could just firm up 2 of those 3 I would be a happy child! Sweetheart, How about trying wall pushups? That's when you're an arm's length away from the wall then do pushups relative to the wall instead of the floor.
  9. Question about FlyerTalk, is the FlyerTalk website up for you?
  10. For starters, here's the list of the major airline alliances: SkyTeam - http://www.skyteam.com Star Alliance - http://www.staralliance.com OneWorld - http://www.oneworld.com The current member airlines for Skyteam are: Delta Airlines - http://www.delta.com KLM - http://www.klm.com Air France - http://www.airfrance.com Aeroflot - http://wwww.aeroflot.ru Alitalia - http://www.alitalia.com Czech Airlines - http://www.czechairlines.com Korean Air - http://www.koreanair.com China Southern - http://www.cs-air.com The current member airlines for Star Alliance are: United Airlines - http://www.united.com Continental Airlines - http://www.continental.com US Airways - http://www.usairways.com Lufthansa - http://www.lufthansa.com Austrian - http://www.austrian.com Swiss - http://www.swiss.com SAS Scandinavian Airlines - http://www.flysas.com Croatia Airlines - http://www.croatiaairlines.com LOT Polish Airlines - http://www.lot.com Spanair - http://www.spanair.com TAP Portugal - http://www.flytap.com Blue1 - http://www.blue1.com bmi - http://www.flybmi.com Adria - http://www.adria.si Turkish Airlines - http://www.turkishairlines.com Air Canada - http://www.aircanada.com Asiana Airlines - http://us.flyasiana.com ANA - http://www.ana.co.jp Air China - http://www.airchina.com Shanghai Airlines - http://www.shanghai-air.com Singapore Airlines - http://www.singaporeair.com THAI - http://www.thaiair.com Air New Zealand - http://www.airnewzealand.com brussels airlines - http://www.brusselsairlines.com EgyptAir - http://egyptair.com TAM - http://www.tam.com.br The current member airlines for OneWorld are: American Airlines - http://www.aa.com Mexicana - http://mexicana.com British Airways - http://www.britishairways.com Iberia - http://www.iberia.com Finnair - http://www.finnair.com LAN - http://www.lan.com Malev - http://www.malev.com JAL Japan Airlines - http://www.jal.com Cathay Pacific - http://www.cathaypacific.com Qantas - http://www.qantas.com.au Royal Jordanian - http://rj.com Now that you've got the overall maps of the airline alliances and member airlines, it's time for you to pick ONE airline PER airline alliance. That's because while you rise in status in one airline's frequent flyer program, you're also earning status in the airline alliance. The status earned for an airline alliance should be honored by other member airlines in the same airline alliance. Since you mentioned American Airlines, let's talk about OneWorld. By being a member of the American Airlines frequent flyer program, you can present your American Airlines AAdvantage frequent flyer card to the British Airways counter and earn American Airlines miles while flying on British Airways. The importance of picking ONE airline's frequent flyer program PER airline alliance is so that you can accumulate miles in ONE account. Let's say you need to accumulate 25,000 miles for a free flight. It's relatively quicker to reach your goal of a free flight if all miles are concentrated into a single frequent flyer program account instead of spread over many frequent flyer program accounts. If in the future for some reason, for example cost, that you might fly on an airline in a different airline alliance, that's why it's better to be a member of a frequent flyer program in each airline alliance so you can accumulate miles in those other programs as well. To use a credit card analogy, instead of only carrying a Visa/MasterCard, have a Visa/Mastercard, a Discover and an American Express. Does this help?
  11. Is "good liar" an oxymoronic statement?
  12. What has Oreo been eating?
  13. Yes, in your words "that line tester type thing"
  14. To expand on what zx10 guy said, there's at least two factors for Cat6: Cat 6 components (connectors, jacks, cabling) Cat 6 channel certification (a cable tester that certifies Cat 6) In other words, just because you have Cat 6 connectors/jacks and Cat 6 cabling, doesn't mean you're going to get Cat 6 performance out of the cabling unless it's been certified to perform at or above Cat 6 standards. Generally speaking, from Cat 3 -> Cat 5...the tolerance standards has been raised so that an improperly terminated Cat 5 connector/jack and cable can have Cat 3 performance or worse (e.g. ONE wire in the cable was improperly terminated therefore possibly causing the whole channel to fail even Category 3 standards).
