I know I'm suggesting the impossible here... like finding a wild unicorn or spontaneously growing wings... but I've been repairing my credit and have ONE negative TL left on all three reports...

a 60-day late from Sallie Mae for a private loan, from over a year ago.

Before and after that was making all payments on time.

I already attempted a dispute (why not?) when disputing my other TL's. Sallie Mae verified, of course.

What're my options? I was thinking a good will letter to their customer care people or something. I read about a couple rare success stories.

its a really long shot from what i have been through. like you, i'm down to my last baddie on all 3 reports. its a nelnet late for 120 days and it is almost 5 years old. so far, no one will delete it even though it actually is visually reporting incorrectly (that is, it is only showing the 120 day late, and it is listed 3 months after a verified payment).

since that fell through, i may have one more attempt left; that is, I requested my deferment dates and found that i have a deferment for the entire surrounding period of the 120 day late. working on getting nelnet to put something in writing and hopefully that will be enough for a delete. we shall see though.

I must have disputed this thing 10 times up to date and not much luck until now.. and that luck is just hope at this point.

I had two Sallie Mae lates from 2008 for 90 days even though it was supposed to be in deferrment. There were two loans each showing late. Anyway, I disputed these several times as never late, supposed to be in deferrment, called the company several times, to no avail. Finally, just for kicks decided to do another dispute last month and low and behold, they removed it from TU and EQ. Still shows on EX, but only on one loan. All I can say is keep trying, you may wear them down. I'll wait a little longer and dispute again for that last one. Sallie Mae is the worst for trying to have lates removed, but it is possible.

I'm in the same boat as you guys - all 3 reports clean except 120 day lates on student loans while serviced by Chase in 2008 and 2009. Chase has since stop servicing and ACS has taken over – never have been late with ACS. Two GW letters to Chase have been denied, sent a third last week to a VP, explaining my Forbearance situation and asking them to remove the lates. If these lates would come I'd be so happy. My current FICO TU is 710 and FICO EQ is 696.

For some reason I got lucky on the Sallie Mae. I never had luck disputing with them, and I actually had one SM account which was fraud. Finally, I took a chance and on Transunion I disputed as belongs to person with similiar name. Ironically, the legit one came off and not the fraud one!!!

bleutatoo, did you go through the CRA's only or did you attempt contacting Sallie Mae?

I ask because the big 3 all got my Sallie Mae late verified... so I figured my only option is to send Sallie Mae a GW letter.

I know it has been a while but I'm bumping for good measure because I have 7 Sallie Mae student loans that I didn't pay on for years. I got a forbearance last Dec or so and started making monthly payments, and I've been on time since then. But I have probably close to 100 late pays on my CRs from the 7 accounts combined due to the years I could not pay (unemployment & medical hardship). I thought when I got my deferment & forbearance and the rep said that it brought my account current that the late pays would go away. I guess not. I don't know what the point will be in trying to rehab the rest of my report if those 7 accounts are going to destroy my score anyway.

sent them a GW letter about a week ago- they called and emailed me with their response. Have to call them back.

Had some 90 and 120 day lates back early last year because i was under the impression it was in forbearance. Anyone else have any luck with them?

If you enter a repayment program, your old accounts will show as satisfied. The lates will not go away but as time goes, they will have little to no affect on your score.

Bump! Am interested to see if anyone has had luck with Sallie Mae and Goodwill letters with them.

Several years ago, I thought my loans were in deferment and didn't make any payments. Ended up with a bunch of 30, 60 90 day lates. Wrote Sallie Mae a letter and they deleted the data from my credit report. On my reports, those months have ND (no data)

I'm glad to hear someone has had success with getting Sallie Mae to delete rates. From what I've read this is near impossible. Unfortunately, I have 7 accounts with them showing lates, from 3 years ago. This happened because I stupidly didn't get paperwork sent in on time to renew my hardship deferment. I was going to try sending a goodwill letter asking them to adjust the dates of the deferment to cover the period where I was reported as late.

chugs102 do you mind letting me know who you wrote to, since you had success?
