This could be ugly if it is true:

130,000 co-brand oil accounts were closed due to low FICO scores.

Anyone with a FICO under 700.

letter haven't been mailed yet but will be and they will state an AA reason on the letter

they cannot be reopened

...AND IF YOU WERE NEVER LATE WITH THAT CARD...THEY ARE JUST TRASHING THE BUSINESS

Mine is fine, but I rarely use the card since Shell here is much more than other stations.

A coworker (whom I encouraged to apply for this card) just had hers cut off. You can not tell online, and only way is try to use it. She was declined at the pump this AM and had a $$14.4K limit. They are taking away LOTS of money. She used hers more than I do mine. I pumped in $3.05 today to see if card worked and topped off.

She called in and was told that they would be sending her a letter, and that all her rewards for the previous month are forfeited.

I just cannot get over how they just cut it whenever. No letter stating your card will be cancelled as of XXXX. Cut it off in the middle of the night like the power company turning you off for Nonpayment.

See, Citi sucks like the others (BOA, Amex).

Oh I did mention that she may want to call Citi and ask for another card they offer as they just reduced her limits with Citi by $14.4K. She is pretty upset about it though as it was one of the frequent cards she used.

My Shell Gas Card is still open. I used to have Shell MC and was converted to Driver's Edge. Now it is Citi Cash Returns MC.

Yeah if they are closing down accounts that have no history of late payments, no high utilization, and PIF almost every month.

Did the source indicate if this was a high unemployment, regional thing. Any rhyme or reason for the closures or just anyone below 700?

I don't have the card just curious.

I wonder if their CO rate on these cards was as bad as the HDMC?

Citi seems to be doing this with other co-branded card. Not surprised any more. I thought the idea was to inject money back into the system, yet every where I look credit lines are cut, or completely removed from the system.
