I signed for Citi AA in October, 2K limit and my first Citi credit card.

I am thinking to sign up for Citi Forward now since I would be cancelling Citi AA before Oct 2010 and need some card with no Annual fee to add age to my acount, is it a good time to apply for another citibank card after 3 months or should I wait longer ?

Have a score of 750, no baddies, few credit cards with 4-5 years old history.

How many cards do people usually apply for in one application spree (of course from different lenders) ?

Thanks everyone.

Might want to be careful given the current climate with lenders.

There used to be a time when you could have about as many as you wanted with these lenders. I'm thinking I once had about 6-7 with Citi (now down to just 4).

With your 2K CL, you either barely qualified, or they have become much more lenient with their lines.

You might always be able to convert the card you have to the Citi Forward?

Take it easy, or you will get something like this:

"Here's what you should know

Unfortunately, we are unable to approve the application at

this time because:

o We have recently opened an account for you. This

includes any of your accounts issued by Citibank (South

Dakota), N.A. such as Visa, MasterCard, store cards,

or gas cards. We invite you to apply again after your

account has been open for at least a year.

We appreciate your interest and we hope to have the opportunity

to serve you in the future.

Sincerely,"

My account was open on Sep with a CL of $6300

The answer is a Copy and Paste from email. The Bold and Underlinae are mine.

I did 15/21 days after my first card application.

I do not remember exactly which was the second card, I think it was an American Express.

My fico Score is about 770 on EQ and TU with a $60000 personal income.

Maybe if you call before you apply, they can give you more information.

Hey hinklesc, do u think i can get my citi AA converted to Citi Forward after I have received AA miles ? If yes which department should I call and also will that conversion make me eligible for the 6000 points for new Citi Forward signup and 5000 points for paperless statement signup (currently I have paperless statements on Citi AA) ?

bump up.

Why are you bumping this up? Someone already gave you an answer.

Are you illiterate? Her question has been unanswered so far.

I think that with the bad economy (Citi's), everyone is unsure.

Sure I applied for 3 or 4 cards on one day and was approved for all, but 2004 was a little different than now.

Citi CSR supervisor told me no more card conversions due to new federal law, but was able to move all but $1000 of credit line from one card to another, it did take a couple of days before I saw it effective online.

Front line CSR rep was useless so I had to ask to speak to a supervisor.

no more card conversions due to new federal law = pass the buck.

Which Fed Agency cares whether you have a Citi AA card or a Dividend Plat Rewards?

In April I opened my first citi card, applied again 3-4 months later and was denied for not enough time. Tried again after 6 months passed and was approved although not sure if it was recently changed to a year.

I would try for another citi mc or visa, try for a store card like, Sunoco they are CITI and you can have many store cards and CC's I don't know what the account limit is.

None of the lenders that i know of are coverting/merging cards. IMO it is stupid and will jus get people to cancel the card and say have a nice day.

That's exactly what they want to happen. In many cases they are trying to shrink their liabilities and don't really care if you cancel your card.
