Getting Inquiries Deleted

Hello,

 

I recently applied for an RV loan. The dealer took my information over the telephone and submitted the app that way, so I have no formal documentation. On the phone, I agreed to a credit app of $135K. The dealer submitted for $138K. The app was denied. My question is, do you think I could get the inquiries deleted on the grounds that this was not the amount I authorized the app for? I'm thinking the fact that this was over the phone, and I have no documentation, will hurt my chances. I'd like to get them deleted so I can clean some stuff up and try again later this year.

Well, I am sure that they will be along soon, but if they are, or if they arent... To the best of my knowledge, CB frowns Tom the practice of attempting to get inquiries removed from one's credit report.

 

Usually, the last post, by an admin or mod, that locks the thread, explains why.

Usually they lock threads about disputing inquiries and it is not recommended. If you only have 4, I wouldn't worry about it. After 6 months they should have a minimal impact on your scores, and that's not enough inquiries to worry about.

Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that there are still 4 inquiries there on manual review. 4 isn't that many though, especially if it's spread across 3 CRAs.

Yeah, unfortunately it's all on Equifax. If it was just the 4, I wouldn't be too concerned. I have about 7 others through over the last 2 years from building up my credit profile....so 13 in total. 3 of those are from my RV loan last year that was approved and I'm in now. I've got a total of 6 in the last 6 months (with these new 4) and 9 total in the last year (again including the most recent 4).

If you want to get rid of EQ inquiries, read all you can on B*. Just search and read.

Isnt there also "Extended Permissible Purpose" that goes on with the INQs for vehicle shopping, or do I have that messed up?

For vehicles and mortgages, yes, but that doesn't change the actual number of inquiries. People can still be denied credit based on "too many inquiries."

This is what the above posters are referring to...


CB does not endorse disputing or removing legitimate creditor inquiries.
Among other reasons, the possible negative consequences can easily outweigh the relatively minor improvement fewer inquiries may make.
