I applied for a citi diamond in June and approved for $1k and got it bumped in December to 5k. I recently applied for the citi thank you and got approved for 5k. The citi diamond gives me no benefits and wonder if I can transfer the CL from the citi diamond to the thank you card.

Is this possible?

Chase and Bank of America have a reputation for letting you shuffle limits around (I personally did this twice recently with three new B of A cards). I'll be interested in seeing comments about Citi. I'm closing or downgrading my HHonors Reserve when the AF comes due later this year.

The ONLY success I've had w/Citi combining CL's is a couple of weeks ago when I was approved for the Citi Executive AA, and they asked ME if I'd like to add some from another TL. But sadly, they would NOT let me take ALL of the CL and close the old card like I really wanted, damnit!

Take this with a grain block of salt, because I can't cite the source, but I recall reading it recently: Some people have reported success combining Citi limits when the BT option on the accounts in question are disabled.

All I simply want is a higher limit on a card that I will have much more use out of

I would also like to hear other experiences with citi before I attempt it

I get that. To shifter's point, what's stopping you from just calling and asking?

I called the recon department and they said it could be done through reg customer service

Ooohhhh... Good update!!

Let us know how the next call goes. :D

I wonder if this works only with "pure" Citi branded cards, or if it also works with co-brands (I want to close my HHonors Reserve and transfer the limit to my AAdvantage Card).

Eagerly awaiting your next update!

AFAIK, Citi disallowed this a couple years back. THAT is why I was surprised last month when I was asked if I wanted to move CL from another Citi card while opening the Executive AA M/C.

M A Y B E Citi has found the folly in their ways and made a change......

Curious to hear how your call today turns out.

Don't get your hopes up yet. They definitely confirmed that you can transfer over from a diff card upon needing a approval for a new card. The guy simply said, the only way you can transfer between accounts is through CS. But it did seem like he knew what he was talking about

If they can do it for one reason, they CAN do it for another.

:offtopic: Then why can't I get Chase to pull TU for my Hyatt app, when they used TU for my CSP and my Freedom? :offtopic:
