credit cure software

i've started using the credit cure software and it's great! it's amazing how many "little" details you've gotta track manually. without the software i'd be pulling my hair out. (and i'm already bald).

 

question: how do you transfer the saved files from one computer to another? i'm doing some work on my work computer and want to be able to bounce it to my home computer.

Hi Rix,

 

If you look in the CreditCure directory (C:Program FilesCreditCure) you'll see that there is a subdirectory called db. That directory contains the database file which is called "cc.tdb".

 

You can move that file from computer to computer without any problems. Just remember that the size of the database will determine how easy it to move that database file around unless of course, you are using a CDRW or transfering the file over the network. If you are in two geographically different places when you are working with CreditCure, then I would suggest that you subscribe to an FTP service and use that as the intermediary transport. IE: From you home, you upload it to your FTP. Once you get to work, download it from your FTP to your work computer. Before going home, upload it to your FTP so you can download it again when you get home.

 

Another option would be to purchase one of those USB Thumb drives that you put on your keychain. Depending on how much money you want to spend, you can get capacities of 64, 128, 512 MB, etc.

Its definitely a flat file db, but not one that most people would recognize.

Letters are actually templates. There are some that come with the installation, I believe. If not, let me know and I will make some available. Read the help file that comes with the software. It explains the use of templates.

 

Anyway, templates are just text files that you create with notepad.exe that have .cct extension instead of a .txt extension. You put them in the CC directory and then you will be able to choose from them when you create letters.

When I create a notepad file, plain text/ansi and save it as a document ending in .cct (sample.cct) for instance - in the windows file system it names it "sample.cct.txt" and I can't seem to get CreditCure to recognize the existance of the file.

 

How do I get the windows file system to just name it what I call it and stop adding the .txt extension?

I found the answer - as you are saving the file in NOTEPAD put quotations around the filename to get NOTEPAD to NOT add the automatic .txt extension - then the CreditCure program recognizes the file! Just FYI - sorry about dredging up this old thread, but it did baffle me for a bit

Leebo, the author of that program hasn't been here for many months. It was written for his friends at CB to use, there is no "full" version- this is the only version. It's unlikely that any further info will be made available unless Leebo pops in at some future time. Sorry-
