Does anyone have thyroid problems?
livingoncash replied to loveliestangel's topic in General Discussion
I thought I had a thyroid problem, I was freezing all the time, hands and feet so cold I couldn't let my feet touch my own legs at night, shivering under 4 quilts, never going sockless, not to mention always being tired and such. Earlier this year I had some labs done by my new doctor and my thyroid was fine. My B12 on the other hand... it was still in the "normal" range according to the lab, just short of 400 on a range of 200-1100, but within 3 days of the first shot, my hands and feet were warm! I can now sleep under a single quilt. I only had 4 shots and then I started taking a sublingual. Since I was taking 5000mcg, my last lab came back ">2000" so I think I'm good Now I realize that I've been deficient at least 10 years, I had low platelet count when I was in the hospital having my son, then saw that again on labs in 2006, plus slightly high WBC (doctor never said anything about these) and then earlier this year I had the same, low platelets and high WBC. My last lab after the 4 B12 shots? Normal! My mother and sister both are taking thyroid meds which is why I figured that was the cause of my trouble. Glad I was wrong. I can get a bottle of 60 2500mcg sublinguals for $5, 1-2 month supply depending on how I decide to take them. -
Is 32-33 too old to go to college to be a teacher?
livingoncash replied to InfamousNY's topic in General Discussion
We were hell on more than one teacher in high school My junior year English teacher was in her first year of teaching, she went from being bouncy and excited at the beginning of the year to bitter and talking about going back for a law degree by the end (I think she's a principal/asst principal or something now though). My freshman year English teacher retired -

I think being older is better when it comes to teaching high school, I couldn't imagine trying to teach kids that were only a few years younger than me. Seems like half the kids I knew in high school (especially from band) are teachers I'm 33, been a stay at home mom for 11 years now and can't wait to go back to school, never got a degree the first time around. -

Grocery shopping at Walmart. Does it really save that much?
livingoncash replied to MrMut's topic in Money Management
I used to do all our food shopping at Wal Mart, but lately I've been finding super deals at Target for meat! I do shop Wal Mart for certain things like diapers (I love the store brand, same type and price as Kroger but I rarely shop there) and some spices are $.50 instead of $1.50+ at other stores. I know you can buy tubs of spices pretty cheap at Whole Foods but if I go there I spend WAY too much Trader Joes was pretty nice to shop at but it's even further away than Whole Foods and again, we spend too much and get too little (my husband once bought a $50 block of cheese from Whole Foods!) I've been buying some stuff at Publix lately too, their $.88/lb peaches were sooooo good, but when I went back maybe a week later, the same type peaches were the same price but rock hard and the nice soft ones were $1.99/lb. I'm really really excited about the ALDI that's being built across the street from the new Super Target. I miss that place. I was wandering around in Publix recently and was just amazed at how many brands they have of each product, ALDI makes things much easier for me -
I've been thinking about buying a Mac
livingoncash replied to TxQuiltGirl's topic in General Discussion
We recently got rid of our big PCs and share one little Mac Mini. It ran WoW even better than my big computer that was upgraded last year (so I could play Age of Conan). I was getting 30 fps pretty consistently, which is better than I got on my PC (my husband's PC would get more like 100fps). I don't think Age of Conan will run on it but just last night I got Lord of the Rings Online running on the Mac, then my husband had to fine tune it for me today. There's a program called CrossOver that helps you run PC stuff on the Mac, we don't do the dual-boot thing. The thing that makes me the happiest about this change is now instead of having two huge tower cases breathing fire and heating up our apartment, we have this little thing that's barely bigger than a CD ROM drive that sits on a shelf. We also have extra drives hooked up to it and had extra memory to put in it, so I'm not sure how big of a difference it makes, had all this stuff hooked up from the beginning. -
First Premier bank....pre approval mail offer??
livingoncash replied to confused2's topic in Credit Forum
I'd trash it. If the HSBC card selector is still around, and you have 2-300 to put into a secured card, I'd give that a whirl, you may be surprised with a non-secured card offer. I had to get a secured card for myself but somehow my husband got an unsecured one, this was a couple years ago though. I think it was about 6 months after getting my secured card that I started getting a lot more offers and approvals, including a Cap1 card and Hooters (I can't remember if they denied or approved me when I applied shortly after opening my secured card account). I've had this account for about 2.5 years and no offer to unsecure it yet. -
Anyone here get paid once a month?
livingoncash replied to dawniedawn67's topic in General Discussion
My husband got paid on the 25th at one job, I liked it, just in time for rent and I'd pay the rest of the bills at the same time. Then he got a job that paid on the 15th and last day of the month, and that worked pretty well. And now I'm having to get used to him getting paid every 2 weeks, I'm not liking this so well! Harder to budget. -
I remember watching the original many times when I was a kid, glad you posted this, now I gotta see it!

I got married on a very small local riverboat, one I'd been on as a kid It's gone now. It was really cheap, we brought our own food and since we had few guests, my parents (who were paying) opted to just pay per guest instead of chartering it. So we had a few strangers who were just there for the ride lol Got married on the top deck, and came downstairs to eat inside. Had a sheet cake, no way any fancy cake would have survived. We only stayed on the boat for the duration of their normal "cruise", maybe 2 hours.

Yeah, what I'm hearing from people around here, it's regular that you can find, and mid and premium are out... unfortunate for those of us that have cars that take premium!

Might want to reconsider that pear tree, heard of them splitting apart too easily!
