UnionBank accepted with Chex

Obviously new here but figured I'd post that UnionBank didn't care about my Chex report. I have a recent (~ 6 months or so) report on there from BofA. - For some reason searching the forums came up with nothing at all about UnionBank. - I guess they might be Chex friendly or perhaps I got lucky. I'm pretty sure they only are in California, Oregon, & Washington.

 

I also tried US Bank and they were hesitant. Applied online, they called, wanted to verify a bunch of information, then come into the branch. I figured at that point I'll save the hassle and try another bank first. Worst case I still had my existing Chase account but the monthly fees were getting annoying.

I wouldn't have written off US Bank. I'm not in Chex and have excellent credit but they refused to open an account with me online. I had to open it in a branch. Had no problem there.

Many times when you try to open an account online it will reject or they make you come to a branch becasue they cannot fully identify you. Also US Bank has a second chance checking account.

 

With Union Bank it depends on the branch. Also there are banks that will override a chexsystem if there is no loss involved.

If you have a record or a retail indicator with Chexsystems, Union Bank of California's guidelines is as follows:

 

Records older than 1 year, with repaid debt to the previous bank, will be disregarded.

 

• Records older than 3 years, regardless if the debt was paid or not, and no fraudulent or criminal activity, will be disregarded.

 

• If there is a "retail indicator", Union Bank of California will decline the opening of a new account.

 

Note: Accounts will not be opened for records with fraudulent or criminal

activity. No exceptions.

Accounts opened through the mail or over the internet are also verified through a Credit Bureau. This is used as an identifying purpose only and the credit itself is not a factor.

They suck. I don't have any negatives on my chex report. I opened a new account and 3 days later they closed for inquiries....

Was curious about Union Bank as well. Never tried in branch. You might want to get USBank as a backup.

 

I might have to try Union as a backup. Online declined, but in branch might be different.

Union Bank seems to decline more than they approve
