I've read many threads about the BBRZMC and using the preselector. I was just wondering, of those that were "pre-qualified" for the card through the preselector how many were denied and for what reason?

Thanks,

Patty

I was recently pre-qualified and then denied. It was due to something internal, a "settled for less than the balance" CO in their system. I explained to someone in executive customer service that I currently have an HSBC card in good standing and she congratulated me on that and then basically sent me on my way. Other than that, it could be any number of things of they found during the hard pull.

They accepted me and my credit is horrible. I have 5 COs (including one from HSBC in 2007 that was sold to another lender in 2008) but only two of the COs have a balance.

I can just imagine how that went over...

CS Rep: Congratulations ...<mutes phone>..."Um, Okay, Why are you telling me this?" ...<unmutes phone>... "I understand" ...<mutes phone>... "I don't get paid enough for this" ...<unmutes phone>... "I'm sorry I can't help you, have a nice day.

HSBC is very flaky so don't always trust the pre-selector. It will approve you if your credit is ok for their standards, but it wont let you know if there is a side reason for denial which sucks. Some common ones are having too many hsbc card already, or derogs with them even though they still approve someone else. It's pretty much a dartboard way of approval. That said I got a approved with a 602 and 105 student loan lates, but no charge-offs or any other active hsbc accounts.

wait...theres a best buy preselector too??

someone remind me on the household rules again? no more than two cards in what time period?

I believe its 18 months, but its always YMMV with them, some people dont have to wait that long. Also, I've never seen someone with more than three HSBC cards on here.

is the link in the pre-selector thread?

would having his hsbc mc for 8 months be acceptable?

does adding things to a "cart" help at all?

I need a new fridge and cooktop...lol

FWIW

I have an original Orchard Card opened 02/2007

I have a second Orchard Card opened 11/2009

I just opened my BBRZMC on 08/02/2010

I was approved on the preselector, but when I app'd I was denied for some weird reason, which was when I was approved for my second card. Then I had attempted again and was approved in August.

i applied on wednesday and was told to contact bbrxmc for verification. When I call I verified my information and was told that I was denied and I would receive the reason in the mail. I have a settled HSbc card from 2007 and no lates since 10/2007. a few collections all paid in 2007 but 1 auto from 2005. score 636 with tu (directly from their website) and 654 with equifax thru CCT. not sure why i was denied. based on other people comments they been approved with recent settled or paid del accts and currect del acct.

I was preapproved via the pre-selector and then denied based upon an old CO showing on EQ. Tried recon because I also have a good HSBC card showing on all three. Rep said to try after the CO falls off this fall. YMMV.

Pulled BBRZ Pre-selector and put in info, pulled trigger. My application is under review, and I will hear from them in 10-14 days.. this is what ALL of my approvals have said, including my Household bank approval. I did provide my new address, and its not yet on my CR< this new address. Surely, that tripped the "Your application is under review, you will hear from us in 10-14 days."

Either a card, or a way to get a free copy of one bureau's CR is coming, if not a request for verification which i will send a Green Card I

have. Yaaaay!

I also decided to NOT add an AU, and also NOT the Account Shield. Was that smart?

They did this to me so i called them up. They asked me a handful of identity questions, then said I was now approved and should have my card in 10 days. I still haven't got it, but it should be here next week.

I got this same message today. Bon, did they tell you what your CL is? May I ask what your FICOs are?

My TU FICO (which is the only one Ive pulled) was at 513. But they only pulled Equifax and my USAA FAKO says 572 for them.

Limit is just $100 but with the mess that is my credit reports, i figured any positive tradeline would be good for my rebuilding. (i have 3 collection agencies, 1 charge off, and 3 defaulted student loans at the moment)

I went here to check my app status and it had a phone # i could call:

https://www.hsbcapply.com/status/rewardzone...=EMRZ_AppStatus

I called them a couple of days afterward since I read someone else in another thread did the same thing.
