when all BK notation is off your report. discover is not BK friendly even though it is a subprime bank.

why do you want discover?

Just looking for one more card for 2010, then back to app-free through the end of the year. I can't seem to find anything else that *might* be doable...and CUs mean I need my wife to cosign as a joint app, since they all use individual income, and my income alone is quite low. DW isn't keen on doing that at this time (she already did for Alliant).

Hege - I tried just for kicks, since most of my IQ's reached the 1-yr mark...figured I'd burn one more IQ then that's it.

Got this:

What exactly will they be looking for? Are they gonna go all Amex on me and ask for financials?

No, mostly they just want to see the phone number you put on the app show up on their caller id when you call. They may ask for a copy of DL or a utility bill. Congrats.

So I need to call from home...thanks!

Although...if our a-hole HOA doesn't clear our parking lot in our condo complex of the 33" of snow we have, I will be home all day, making that call will be quite easy!

How are they subprime? I believe their variable APRs start at 11.9%, nothing to carry a balance on, but not subprime.

I thought Discover is basically uber prime

Crappy $1000 CL, but hopefully it can grow...

if you're like many of their card holders, it will remain among your lowest CLs even as it grows.

while some have good growth/nice CL their cards are not known as big growers relatively speaking,

in any case, looks like you did extremely well based on your stated profile, since they tend not to be BK friendly and are unlikely to hit up an app with a big CL without the requisite income.

I'll use it probably for gas, and the auto-billing for Sirius satellite radio to keep it active. At least I got one, I can deal with a small CL - I have other, larger ones for other purposes. Getting a Discover with a BK was the goal, and I met it!

We got more than that here (some years ago)

They had the city on lockdown

I had to get a ride to work today. I live in a condo, and our association has yet to plow the lot. Although I dug out my SUV, about a 3-foot wide path around it, I still can't get out, and it's 400 feet to the street. Even in 4WD it was like hitting a brick wall when I did attempt to see what I was able to do.

Where do you live, George?

discover is the home of deceptive BTs and is run by subprime bankers.

I just don't go around making loud noises in unrelated threads about why I feel this way about disc. I suppose if I did I could get a higher post count :)

congrats I guess. disc does a lot of ARs and even checks Innovis. tread lightly is my advice.

there are so many better card products out there, but I guess if this is the one you want, good.

guess their gig is up then, in a way, since they'll be applying payments above the min to the higher APR soon.

The wife has a Motiva that has grown a bit since she first got it a few years ago, but it's the lowest CL she has. They do give small auto CLI every once in a while, offer a lower APR than most of her other cards and have cashback rewards. :)

How long after BK does one have a realistic chance at a REAL Discover (not a GEMB/Wal Mart or the HSBC one)? I'm 4 years from discharge this month.

...and why do you want a "REAL" discover vs any other kind???

WALMART DISCOVER and SAMS DISCOVER don't only pay you 0.25% max like the "REAL DISCOVER"

(for shopping at WALMART or SAMS)

What's on Innovis, typically? I didn't think anything important reported to Innovis...

be careful who you get advice from. some anti-consumer fools yell at people who want to know what is on their IDS report.

Some have said that their FREE report was too expensive

(Totally useless)

If it interests you...GO FOR IT

Treat it like many things here--->YMMV

Nobody is going to be denied a new credit card application from them being pulled instead of EQ or TU or EX
