I don't think this is new, it's been around for a while. Thanks for sharing though.

There was an HSBC AMEX thread a month or two back...someone had come up with a link that did not appear to be readily found on the HSBC website. It looks like they got through their beta and now it is out there for everyone to find in a much easier manner...

As I recall, limits that most reported getting in the thread tended to be on the low side- sub $2K. It was enough to keep me from applying since I really didn't need a low-limit AMEX and was not really in need for yet another card on the network...

Here was the link that discussed a number of the apps: http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=302505

New to the website, though...haven't seen it advertised before.

I do remember the HSBC AMEX threads from before, but I believe it was only folks getting the offer in the mail.

Yep, a few months ago a few CBers applied for the card. The enthusiasm died quickly though because those approved received very disappointing limits compared to the rest of their cards...

I don't like HSBC and never will. I have their Best Buy Rewardzone MC. It's a good card but I hate their CSR all around.

anyone have this one?

My friend has one, and received a change in terms notification in the mail a couple weeks ago. He's receiving a new Amex card (not sure it'll still be HSBC though), complete with new account number, next month.

No idea what's up, but it appeared from what the letter said, that HSBC might be pawning this card off to a 3rd party support system or...? This is not a replacement card due to a security breach or otherwise. I think HSBC is washing their hands of their only Amex network card.

I'll see if I can get a copy of the letter and post it.

I ask this in all honesty...

Why would anyone want a card that takes one of the worst Subprime lenders

and combines it with a company that AAs without warning or reason, does full

rectal exams on a whim and closes cards of those who manage their credit well?

HSBC has a number of PRIME products. Secondly, co-branded AMEX products are NOT subject to AXP underwriting practices.

That being said, I do not know that the HSBC AMEX is one that I would go for simply because of the early reports of low limits relative to other AMEX products on the market.

As far as HSBC, I LIKE my Weekender card and I still have had no problems with either Saks or Neiman Marcus cards...

Thanks Centex.. I've heard that HSBC has prime products, but www.hsbccreditcards.com

only seems to list the subprimes. I guess they like me, I have the 2% cash rewards subprime card. :(

That also makes sense about partnered cards.

From the things I've seen Amex do to its customers, I'll likely never app for an Amex.

If I wanted to be treated like Amex treats its customers, I'd call one of my ex-wives

and tell them everything was all their fault...:)

My SAKS store account/Elite MC card combo is prime. Nice limits on both accounts and no complaints with them at all....

if you were honest you would know that hsbc has both prime and subprime products. in fact the subprime products are from firms that hsbc BOUGHT.

2% cashback and 20K limit is not subprime. :swoon:
