I have an unpaid Verizon CO that updates monthly, which is killin' my scores. I have tried PFD (its $1800- my ex wife ran it up!), but they won't budge. From my research, I see their failure to allow a PFD, is a common occurence. Normally a paid collection does not help- but since they keep updating monthly should I just PIF, settle or sweat it out. I have a 600 score on TU and EX (where it is posted) but a 679 on Equifax, where it is not listed. I am trying to refinance in 4 mos. HELP!

I've been having the same exact problem with Verizon. It's just not going any where. In this case is it just safe to pay the whole thing? Mine is about 2 years unpaid.

Put how it is listed. Verizon doesn't typically report themselves but the CA that does their collecting reports in their name. TRUST ME on this one, I've found out a lot in the last few weeks.

So, if you pay it, it gets worse.. In time it will get a teeny weeny bit better down the road. DO NOT PAY THEM! My wife did, and it's STILL killing her scores. It's a no brainer, if they want to play make them pay.. ( Lose money )

DH had one that was reporting monthly.....we paid it and IMMEDIATELY disputed it through all 3 cra's.....

will post when it updates but they are ruthless and a no-go on PFD's.

They do respond pretty quick to a pfb complaint....

PFB got me a letter from the CEO and a contact person. Contact person was a broken record. No PFD. No deletion. Pay us if you want to - we really don't care.

I would not pay Verizon unless they were willing to delete. They are not. Therefore, they will not be paid.

Some sporadic reports of successful PFD have been reported here, but I never had any such experience.

TChris, go to your post office and ask them for a form that basically is a discovery form for po boxes for businesses. If the Post office ask you why, you can tell them you tried to validate a debt and the party didn't respond and you are filing a suit on them. This will tell you who the po box belongs to. If it's not Verizon then you have a leg up on them. Do that and then we can go from there.

PFD is in the glossary I bookmarked, but not PFB.

I had tried everything to get a PFD, even talked with the VP. They would not budge. I even told them that I would just wait them out, and that they could just update away, but unless they did a PFD for me, they would never see a penny. Needless to say, after waiting 2 more years, they will drop off in another month, already disputed with transunion and they removed for me ahead of schedule (only a month to go. Not good business for them, could have took the money, now they won't get a cent, and they can no longer report.......good riddence to ya VW

I'm in this club too, but my membership expires in December when the CO finally falls off the last CRA. Verizon is Satan. They won't work with you at all and would rather lose the money than lose the argument. The only reason I paid it is because a mortgage lender told me an open CO hurts more than a paid one at least in terms of a manual CR review. My CO was for less than $100, but it's not the amount that matters most.

I have Verizon wireless updating on Equifax and transunion. for whatever reason the account numbers, addresses, and phone numbers( not even similar) do not match.

For Equifax I have:
Verizon Wireless NY
chargeoff
2000 corporate drive
orangeburg, NY 10962-2634
866 825-5460 phone recording states it is "Let's Talk" a company that sells phone and cell phone service

Tried to dispute this account many times and always verified. disputed the fact that I can't contact company because of bogus phone number and got a form letter.

Transunion:
Verizon wireless
charged off as bad debt
PO BOX 1850
FOLSOM, CA 95630
(800) 852-1922 phone recording states verizon wireless recovery dept.

Disputed many times. Gave TU my numerous green cards sent to 2 CAs that were unanswered and got form letter.

CA 1:Professional Credit Service
CA 2:Bureau of Collection Recovery Inc.

I will do a discovery on the PO BOX this monday. Anyone care to comment on what other steps I can take?

I paid my CO before finding CB, Verizon Wireless CO stopped reporting over 2 years ago. Anyone get a CO deleted after payment?

Bosshog, you need to DV the first one that's in NY. That's not Sprint so you have a good shot at not getting validation back.

To tchris:

Hey buddy, any progress? I have the same issue with Verizon collection. My Post office refused to release information on PO Box (even though it is a bussiness one) reffering to privacy matters. They advised me to contact my lawyer. When I asked them what is the difference between my request and a lawyer's request they were not able to explain.

Dobermanchik, if you it pertains to a lawsuit they have to release it. Look on their website and their is a form you fill out. Take it down there and tell them it's to you help you with your suit in small claims court. If they say no again try another post office.
