Denied Chex is the reason and an email was sent with the adverse action notice... Oh well, guess our 2 local CU's and BOFA will have to do for now.

 

Number of Chex INQs?

 

Only 3 in the last year but 9 total (as of my report from January)... I am on chex for "account abuse" in 2007 for an old account with US Bank tho.

 

Well, thats what mine says. I remember it from Cooper Savings Bank in Columbus OH in 2009, when they said "Well, you should apply" and ignored me telling them "I have things from 2006 or 2007." Wasted. I was mad (then.) I cant see myself having more than two or three Chex INQs since 07. However, with BOfA and WaMu.. says "Account Abuse." MAYBE PNC..

 

Oh man, im in suspense now.

 

Did they send you this AFTER they asked you to send in ID? Or.. before you even got to?

Hi new elfies. I've been busy today but it appears so have the elves at ELFCU!

 

Didn't I say their customer service was awesome and friendly? They're really a great CU - for all the new elfies I think you'll enjoy them very much.

 

For the person upthread who said their online system is weird the way it comes up in a new window, yeah, it is but they're a 100% legit EXCELLENT CU (even if they could use a better web designer )

Aww, thanks I couldn't speak to Chex problems so I did state up front that I don't know their policy on that. I have no Chex baddies and have opened accounts very far apart so I guess I'm fine there.

 

They're REALLY friendly and their service is great. The May 20th rush is going to be insane.

Did the membership app last night with DW as joint. Got all the way through it with no problems. The last page showed "pending". I didn't hear anything from them today by phone or email....should I go ahead and fax copies of our DL's and SS cards to them since that sounds like what the procedure is??? I'm not sure who to address the fax to though?? I've seen a couple of names mentioned here so I'm assuming they are the membership folks who handle the new apps...

BTW I did join Trudirections as required for membership...

 

Any suggestions???

Suggestions would be to call in the AM. If you got to the ID questions when you applied, there is no need to send anything. I applied over the weekend and the called early Monday morning, Sent over DL then called back Monday about 3PM. Had the welcome email an hour later. Lilyflower is right their CSRs are great,

Yeah, I made it through the ID questions for both me and the DW....didn't seem to be a problem since I made it through to the last page and got the "pending" message....

 

If I don't have an email when I wake up tomorrow, I'll give them a call....is the number jus the "Contact" number on their home page????

1. On May 20th, this CU (the one that brings out the inner Elf in all of us, see acronym) will begin offering a GREAT Rebuilder Secured CC with DD that myself and at least 50+ CBers will jump on on day one! $1000/12-month for Secured CC. Even I can do that!!!

 

2. I have a great, inquiring, brain-damaged, High Functioning Aspergian, and possibly certifiable/criminally insane mind. We great and inquiring tnink alike. As to the rest... My cat (one of them, Seluna) looks like an elf smurf.

That's the day they start offering credit cards....apparently their credit cards are "in house"....I think folks are curious just how "credit builder" friendly they're gonna be...thus the reason for all the CBers joining the CU right now....at least that's my understanding....

The email with the decline for membership came the day after the app... No need for ID, a phone call, or anything else... Just a thanks for applying but we denied you because of Chex... It's ok tho, I'm not too bent about it. Really just wanted to see if they could beat my local CU's for used auto loan rates...

I used the scan deposit thing last night. Took a couple of tries, but worked pretty well. Better than Chase's iPhone app, that's for sure. Guess I'd better send in my signature card... heh

ok here we go...

 

i called in because i wasn't able to view my think big checking account. i was only able to see my share account. well i'm pretty sure it was there the whole time, but was having trouble viewing on the ipad using the drop down menu or something. anyway, i spoke with STACEY and she was extremely nice and gave me lots of good info. some of the info wasn't relevant to me (like my car is paid off) but after i kept asking questions she was asking if i had family who might join and i was honest with her and told her i was posting to a credit board and she probably noticed a huge influx of people. she was very receptive and said to ask for her specifically when you call and she will help you out. they were happy to have all the new people, so here is the info she gave me. i didn't give her THIS board specifically, just that i was posting on a credit board and that people with great credit were happy about the think big checking and no hard pull for membership and that people with poor credit were excited for rebuilder credit cards.

 

so this is the info she gave me:

 

--once you join any family member is eligible without paying new dues.

 

--auto rates are at 3.24%, but at 2.99% for 5 or 6 year terms for any new or used card from 2005 on up.

 

--mobile banking coming up for iphone and andoid first week of may, text banking, check deposit app. all those things are in the works and being tested right now by the employees. she said she was using mobile banking all weekend and it was great.

 

 

 

--home rates are good, but i wont post them because they dont seem any better than national averages really.

 

--for credit products or loan they will be pulling Equifax

 

remember to ask for stacey! maybe she gets commission.

They confirmed the secured? Awesome! I was asking about that weeks ago and they said it was in discussion. I may ask one of their reps before I pull the trigger because there's an outside chance they'll let me go unsecured with the credit builder loan I have with them. EQ is my cleanest report so I'm hopeful.

 

If they're happy for the new business that should work in my favor for the unsecured (I can dream right, )
