does anyone have a definitive answer on if adding a AU to your account is a hard of soft pull ? additionally what about the Small Business Cards ?

For most cards there's no pull at all.

AmEx does screen the AU, probably soft on Experian, along with their internal system

Bob Amex Business credit card do they screen AU?

I assume so, some people worry that they will be denied a corporate card due to being blacklisted.

on this Citi dividend card app the AU option as for the Name of AU only. I guess this one will not report?

Probably will not report, unless the AU shares your address.

thanks Bob, do you know how creditors determine if someone shares an address with you or not?

i have someone who lives with me and im not sure how they can put something on record so they can link them to my address

Even if you get it to report, FICO 08 will probably ignore the AU account unless the AU is a spouse.

I have someone living here, her AU account reports, but has not helped at all on Experian or TransUnion.

Dang!

Some people are resourceful.

I just did my quarterly login to a backup Yahoo! Mail account, only to keep it open.

Found a message from a CBer about AUs.

You know who you are, so check your e-mail. :D

Just a reminder that, even though an AU account might appear on someone's credit report, the newer FICO 08 scoring will ignore non-spousal AU accounts,.

I wonder how they determine spousal/non spousal

It's secret, and imprecise, but was necessary for FICO 08 to be palatable to regulators.

Many professional women are keeping their names after marriage.

So same name and address is neither necessary nor sufficient to establish spousal status.

There was one couple in the same specialty who worked in the same hospital.

PA announcements would go something like "Dr. Brown to the ER please"

A few minutes later "The OTHER Dr. Brown, please"

We are trying to buy a house and my girls score is just a few points short of what we need so I added her as au on a 38 year old card of mine and they said they will report to cra but I had her opt out a month ago.

Does anyone know if that will prevent the account from showing on her report?

TIA

There is no guarantee that non-spousal AU accounts will report.

Even spousal accounts may not report, especially if last names are different.

So I had some CCs charged off that I paid and had removed from my CR. Problem is I effectively removed my CC history. I do have student loans (which shows history) and one credit card where I am a AU on. For 10 years I've bee on the card with never a late payment. My question, does this help me apply for a new credit card or not really? So without doing a bunch of hard pulls, can I apply for a excellent CC (excellent in terms of credit score) rather than one that would accept one with an average score?

AU accounts may not help any more.

I like Walmart because they are relatively forgiving, and they'll give you a TransUnion FICO 08, which does NOT use non-spousal AU accounts.

And some, like BOA, Discover (I think), GECRB, etc...simply ask if it's a spouse/other when you add the AU. :P

I just received my AU card from C1 a few days ago. They did not require my SSN, but said it was optional if I wanted them to report on my CRs. They said they will report it if provided, but didn't know what FICO did with the information they reported. However, if FICO 08 ignores AU accounts, then it doesn't really matter at all whether they report or not :)
