Well I can tell you this I was more of cash then credit I'm not young but my scores are over 800 my income are 6 figs plus my DTI is very low.

then I don't see a problem especially if you have decent credit products now.

I think the problem that I see is that I do not have alto of revolving credit.

well what about the card appeals to you? do you travel overseas a lot? if not, the card is mainly for bazinga rights.

In the meantime, I'll settle for my lowly plastic cards

LOL. There's nothing wrong with "lowly" plastic. Some of my wealthiest friends carry run-of-the-mill, no annual fee cards. They can afford a Mercedes S-Class for around $150K but instead drive Suburbans or Toyota Highlanders.

I've been reading the last two pages of this post. Here is my summary to the questions asked. I applied and got it. If you dont try you will never get one. My score is 794. My debt to income is only 2% in debt. I already had a Visa Black Card , a United (chase) Visa Signature card., a BOA Visa Signature Card, a Amex Platinum Card and have had several now paid off loans via Chase when I called. The only thing I owe money on is my home but it is close to paid for and a leased MB. I called JP right after I read about the card online and asked to get one. I answered a few questions filled out th application and signature sheet ( for the card engraving) that night and called back the next morning and was approved. I had them switch my Chase United card credit line and small balance over to the Palladium card and closed that card. I have had the Palladium card since August of this year and LOVE it. I love the one on one service the best. I have since dropped AMEX and most likely will drop the Barclay Visa Black card next year when the annual fee is due. The only card I would even consider over this one would be the Amex Cent. black card but it would have to be free. BTW I know of a couple people that have the Amex and they pay NO annual fee to have it. They have had them for several years though. As for a non US citizen ; my understanding is that you can not get a US credit card. I've tried to get a German and British credit card a few times and they tell me that I need to be a resident of the country. Last answer to the questions.... Yes the card is very cool. Makes a Amex black look cheap. Yes vendors and waitresses make good comments about the card and yes it is not available to everyone who has a 800 score. As for the annual fee; luxury by definition is not affordable. Thanks, T

well there aren't any partners hotels in Vegas ;)

I think you have a good chance at approval. It just depends on how you value the peerless customers service and benefits versus the costs.

Received my JP Morgan Palladium plastic card today and it is the same as the JP Morgan Select card as pictured on the chase website.

why did you want the lowbrow edition?

Airport magnetometers pickup the card in your wallet -- so you have to leave your wallet in a bin. I'm not a huge fan of that. I carry both.

I hear you. I have spare keys to my car and house in my wallet, so I always put it through the x-ray machine. I place it in my flight bag, so it's not in plain sight for someone to grab. I do take the cash out and carry it though in my pocket.

+1

It's also making my wallet considerably more heavy.

Hege - data suggests you are here with me in l-v, we should grab a coffee sometime

as for palladium and the requirements, its good if you understand the history of jp morgan and the origin of the select and palladium program. they use many metric and reports to determine eligability. they are not like crap-ital one were they go mainly off credit report and stated everything else. they are very thorough for good reasons. as for the requirements, they consist of many things from credit report, banking profile with chase/JP and other banks, profile with credit unions, public records, DTI, inquiries and more. Because of their long banking history they have become very good at speculating on... things. in dealing with them, i am impressed at the data they have access to, much more than other banks.

and keep in mind, you cannot go off hege's experience as his financial profile is interesting and he has prior relationships with the bank and other things including total household income... and he's good at massaging his credit in certain ways :) so careful if you think you are getting hege's same process as... some banks really like him... heck.. AMEX is sending him preapps even after his time with them... good job hege... careful others... thats why you see YMMV here alot because everyone's credit profile can be similar on report but very different when you look at the whole credit and banking profile

First, my thanks to all for their posts on the Pd card. Based upon comments, I decided to take the plunge and apply. A few observations based upon my application experience:

  • Very fast (less than 24 hour response time) to my application by a credit analyst.
  • Since I have a ton of Chase cards, which sit in my drawer after getting the special offers for applying, the analyst wanted to know why I was applying for the Pd card, what I planned on using it for, approximate average monthly spend I intended to place on it, etc. More importantly, the analyst was most concerned about overall Chase exposure to unused Chase CLs
  • Analyst indicated that minimum CL for the Pd is $15K.
  • After some discussion, I told the analyst to close out some of my unused Chase cards and do a CL reallocation. With that, the analyst indicated that the app would be sent on for final review.
  • Overall, a quick and painless process.

sounds about right. they are focuses on many things in addition to a credit report. and they have alot of information from lexus nexis and other public databases that they dont always disclose.

they are fast because few people have the PD program currently.

All in all, if you can afford and justify the AF by using the benefits then purchase enough to make the bank happy then everything is good.

Has anyone had this card report to the credit bureaus yet ?

I was just wondering about that too since mine has not reported. Man, that would be a real coup if this card does not report!!!!

Any update on reporting. It's been over 6 cycles, with nada...

it reports as chase FYI... so its not going to do anything special to a CR other than add a prime revolving tradeline.

Anyone have their AF they want to give me to pay my AF. I gunna have to sell a kidney...

The Pd card arrived today! The unboxing experience and the actual card is awesome. All JPM needs to do is add more benefits and they'll peel off a lot of Amex Platinum customers.

congrats!

When the Pd card arrived, I noticed some scratches on the front and the mag stripe on the back wasn't fully applied to the edge of the card, so I called to request a replacement card. CS was fantastic and ssent a replacement one that was free of scratches. I also received a mailer to send back the scratched card. Today, I received a call from JPM CS inquiring as to whether the replacement was better and apologizing for the first card. The rep indicated that since it was an elite product they wanted to make sure the cards were perfect. The rep also indicated that this was the first time he had heard of problems with scratches. I told him he needed to have someone check this board and thread as I wasn't the only one. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with JPM service and it sure beats anything I've experienced with Amex Platinum.

:good:

If the Pd service continues at this level I will be downgrading my amex platinum in 2012.

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to get a rough bit of advice.

Can someone give me an idea of what they are looking for as a minimum for credit score, years of credit, income, etc.

I've read through the thread and haven't seen it. I know that nobody can know for sure, but just a general idea would be great.

Thanks :)
