I am brand new here. Have been reading WhyChats info. I am going to start w/ the pre hippa letter to all 3 CRAs. There are 3 med collections showing on my husbands report. Two of the three also show on mine. Do I send out separate letters to each CRA from me and from my husband for each account?

Welcome to CB!

You send letters to the CRA's for what is on YOUR report, and your DH sends letters for what is on HIS report. You do NOT combine your files/records/reports with his.

Thank you. What a great resource!

I will send my letters and husband's separately. I am wondering if since there are 3 collections on each report do I address each one in a separate letter? For example, do I include all 3 accounts on the TU report for me on one letter or send TU 3 for me, 3 for husband...same for the other two CRAs.

I will let WhyChat or others confirm, I would think you could address all two (or three) in the same letter.

Example:

Dear CRA, My name is xxxxx xxxxxx and my SS # is xxx xx xxxx.

I am sending this dispute certified mail # xxxx to make sure you receive it.

I have no knowledge or records of the following entries on my report # xxxxx:

1. Account number xxxxxx from XXXXXX.

2. Account number yyyyyyy from YYYYYYY.

3. Account number zzzzzz from ZZZZZZZ.

Then continue with the remainder of the letter.

Send your letter in a separate envelope from your DH's letter. Send both via certified mail so they each have their own article number.

That's what I thought. Just want to be sure. It's kinda scary doing this. I feel like if I make a mistake I ruin my chances of getting this taken care of and OFF our reports.

Don't let your fear paralyze you. I know I faced that same uncertainty (and sometimes still do!) because I figure the worst will happen.

Well, so far, so good. I just have to keep plugging away! You can do it.

Thank you flagal for sticking to the SAME thread for all your questions.

I suggest you do NOT answer any poster who takes up space and time with innumerable separate repeated posts as they may be a "troll" who just wants to waste everyone's time. I put people like that on "ignore".

I am sending out pre HIPPA letters today. I am seeing several different addresses for each CRA. Which do I use? PO Box, Corp HQ, Local office???

Oh this is so confusing. I would not ever be able to do it wiothout this board!!!!!!

Send to the address shown on your "hard copies" of your reports for disputes.

Thank You.

I am not familiar with the protocal here yet.

Thought my address Q was a new topic.

All the addresses on my hard copies are PO Boxes. Thought I'd be sending to a physical address to get it in someones hands and get a signature.

Certified mail is delivered to PO Boxes. The representative that picks up the mail signs for it (well, stamps it) at that time. It's all the same. <_<

Yes, you want the "paid" charge offs off your reports as much as you do the unpaid ones, they are ALL rated the same.

Hi,

I just received a bill from the original provider for something listed as collection on my husbands TRU report. Should I pay it? Should I send them a PFD letter? I sent pre HIPPA letters to the CRA earlier this week. This bill is from a provider that I recently paid a current bill over the phone and the lady there said "oh, we have another balance on a separate bill, do you want to pay that?" That's when I checked the credit reports. The original bill is from 2006 and legit.

Thanks

Yes, this bill has been validate and should be paid with the HIPPA letter to the OC with inset "a". Since you are dealing with multiple medical collections, If you are unsure ask first it is better that way, The HIPPA process can be a little confusing the first time through.

I had already sent the pre HIPPA letter to each of the CRA's w/ that account included before IA received the bill from the OC. Should I pay the bill quickly now w/ the OC using the HIPPA letter so that by the time the CRA goes to verify (or whatever they do) it is paid?

Thanks!

Update...

Experian: I received a letter indicating the items were investigated. The coll. that I received a bill from and sent the HIPPA letter to the OC was not addressed at all. Regarding the other 2 collections, the leter says they were investigated and found to be accurate and will remain. If I have any further questions I should contact the credit grantor directly, and they provide a phone number for the OC. My husband received a letter that was blank. What is my next step with them?

Received letters from TU..all 3 collections deleted on both my and husband's reports...AWESOME!!!

Nothing yet from Equifax.

Thanks very much for your assistance and expertise.
