Thanks, Elaine54. I have those checks and I have lots of unused credit limit that exceeds the amount currently owed on the card.

Greetings! I have a question and I will appreciate any feedback. I have a card with a balance at 0% that's about to run out. The same card still has a lot of unused credit limit + another balance transfer promo offer of 0% for 15 months if I decide to take advantage of the offer. My question is, can I do a cash advance on the new BT promo that is equal to the amount owed and use the cash from the advance to pay off the old BT that's about to run out. In other words, I'll still be owing the same amount (plus the BT charge), but I'm basically buying myself another 15 months of carrying the balance at 0%. Is this at all possible? I don't want to call the credit card company to ask my question lest I get flagged and have my unused limit slashed. Any responses are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Your story sounds almost like mine. Alamo, it seems to me, is scheming non-suspecting customers. I made my reservation through Hotwire, picked up the rental at MIA, nothing happened to the car while it was in my possession, dropped it off at the airport and received a clean check-out. Fast-forward a week or so later, I got stuff in the mail saying I owed roughly $300 for damages incurred while the car was in my possession. I almost blew a gasket. I called the number on claim form immediately, got transferred to an Alamo claim specialist, and while we were duking it out on the phone, claim specialist told me he sees the same 'damages' in a picture taken of the car 2 weeks prior to the date I rented. Bingo! Long story short, I got a letter on Monday, after over a month of speaking with the claim specialist, apologizing for any inconvenience caused me and saying the case is being closed. So, you need to get on the phone ASAP. About CRA stuff, collectors can easily match your name and address, thus put stuff on your report with ease.

Centex, ICANHASMUNY, anybody, help! I'm posting this here as well as in the "Help! I've Been Served" forum. I need advice on how to tackle a JBD/law office. I don't even know if this can matter be salvaged at this point, but here's a synopsis: Legal Recovery Law Office (LRLO) served my friend a summons back in February. My friend didn't respond to the summons. My friend got scared and reached an oral agreement over the phone to send LRLO monthly payments. My friend has made 3 installment payments so far to LRLO. My friend told me about this matter a couple of weeks ago, and I told her about Creditboards. I went to the Court Clerk on her behalf on Friday, and was told that as of Friday (04/23) plaintiff has not filed anything to prevent defendant from responding to the summons. However, plaintiff recently filed a Notice of Settlement of Entire Case. Here's more info about the debt: Debtor is in California Debt is within SOL OC is Providian ==> then morphed to WAMU ==> then to Chase. OC sold debt to Arrow Financial (JDB #1) Legal Recovery Law Office says it is representing Arrow Financial. Isn't LRLO just another JDB masquerading as a law office? Anyway, here are a couple of question off the bat: 1. Can my friend respond to the summons this late in the game even though it is well past 30 days since she was served? 2. Can't her verbal agreement to sending installment payment be easily construed as consent to the debt? 3. At this point, does she even stand any chance of getting out of this obligation after all that she's agreed to? This is open to all to chime in. I appreciate any input. Had my friend spoken to me about this before making any payments, she'll probably have more leverage. It eats me up inside to know that this JDB is having another field day on an uninformed consumer. Thanks!

I'm in shock. I've been around here for a while, though off and on, didn't know he was terminally ill. I came back only to discover this sad news? I pray his family will find the fortitude to move on. RIP.

OP, you're saying you never applied for the card and now it's showing on your credit report with fees added?
-
Add me to the list of disgruntled applicants. Today, I received the business card which I applied for about a week ago. Its CL is a measly $5K. The only reason I applied for this card was because I read posts stating the biz card does not report to personal credit report. Now I'm hearing the contrary as a few posters have recently stated the TL has popped up on their personal credit reports. So far, it has not popped up on mine. All I can do now is hope for a CLI because canceling it won't stop it from reporting. I guess I'm stuck with this one.

Anyone taken the bait yet? I got a pre-approved notice when I logged into my Hilton HHonors account this morning. Seems like a good deal, except for the $75 AF. Hilton recently revised the HHilton rewards redemption, which will take effect come January. So, when one considers all the changes we'll see to credit card rewards due to the financial crisis, I think the $75 AF is justified. Any thoughts?

Anyone know if we can convert from one AmEx Biz CC to another? I just got approved for the Gold Delta Skymiles Biz, but I like this Platinum Biz without an AF. Thanks!

Greetings! FYI: BofA may be becoming the new Amex when it comes to CLDs. I noticed this evening that my Platinum Plus has been CLD from $30k to $15k, but its APR is still at 13.99%. My reaction was like, 'whatever!' since I hardly ever use the card and have roughly $200K in CL across 7 cards. My Hilton Honors Amex is my primary card which I always PIF and I NEVER carry a balance on any of my cards. I am thinking about refinancing my mortgage and my FICOs a week ago were 725, 782 and 748. So, be vigilant.

is this on myfico or buying the fico through tu? My guess is it's through myfico. The article was not specific. See linky: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1233197394...eTabs%3Darticle

I read in the WSJ that the new FICO rolls out today with TU. I refuse to give them my money. If anyone makes a purchase and notices anything 'striking', please let us know. Thanks!

FWIW, I believe Delta has the upper hand in this union with NWA. My WP visa is the only AF card in my portfolio, so I won't be missing it should US bank offer cardmembers the option to convert to other US bank cards. A couple of weeks ago, I wiped out all my WP FF miles with a round trip first-class ticket from SFO to CDG in May on Air France. Couldn't have asked for a better deal.
