Thanks to everyone who replied. I'll go into a BBVA Compass bank on Monday and try to open a 2nd chance checking account. There are Wells Fargo banks all over the place here too if that doesn't pan out.

I just moved to Houston and need a checking account. I've applied with Ally Banking online: rejected; a local credit union: rejected; another local bank: rejected. I've got 2 Chexsystems marks for NSF from a previous credit union even though I paid them. I just need a debit/visa card and the ability to direct deposit my money. I've gotten a decent job here but I have no where to put it! I've thought of signing up with one of those debit cards at Walmart or Netspend but that doesn't really solve my main dilemma. The fees also suck.

I told the OC rep. They will look into it. I also told them that I do not handle that crap here (I didn't use that harsh a terminology) and that if the CA called again I would have to refer them to our legal department.

Where I work we had an account put in collections by error. I was told by a rep for the company we deal with that account would not be put in collections and that they were adjusting the amount. They were also not going to add late fees. They adjusted the amount and it looked like several months worth. Anyways, what happened is that after this was all sorted out I sent this to Accounts Payable to be paid. This is a large company so things don't go very fast. The collections people called here all rude, like if I had any say in how fast things go, etc. I told them I only deal with the company we do business with, not collections. They would not let me get a word in edgewise. I told them I was telling them by law that they could not call here anymore. They said OH WE WILL SIR. I don't actually know or care about any laws dealing with business credit. We have a legal department that handles that crap. I have no idea why the salamanders are even calling me. Well I do know but I can't do anything about it. Anyways is it illegal, or "bad", for me to call them repeatedly over and over as long as they do not tell me to stop? Maybe call, hang up, call hang up, call, place them on hold. Yes I know that could be considered evil, but if they aren't actually requesting that I stop, is it illegal? THANKS!

I wouldn't want to buy one for my kids, but only because of the high cost and low availability. They can wait if they want one. Besides my kids are just (almost) 3 and (almost) 4, so as long as I don't introduce them to it they won't want it. Plus they get tired of new toys quickly anyways. But I have thought of buying one and selling it on eBay or similiar, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do it. Just if I saw it on the shelf at the store and had the money to buy it.

Just wondering. I play on the Tanaris realm. Got my wife hooked on it too.

I need to get rid of a bunch of old junk here at work and I can't find any information on which things to throw away and which to recycle and where in some cases. blackberrys - broken. I am assuming I can drop these in the phone recycling bin at Best Buy wireless data cards from the carriers (dial up) - I have no clue if these contain anything bad for the environment, so i'm not sure if I should trash them or where to recycle them. power adapters - Some small, some bulky. I never knew if these needed to be recycled or not.

What state are you in? Here in Knoxville there's a Yahoo Group for bartering. You may be able to get someone to help you with the tile in return for any services in return.

A few suggestions here: 1) Your ISP? change the extensions from .mp3 to something like .old. Then just download them and change it back. 2) 2GB, seriously! Do you really need ALL of that music at once? Why not just upload your favorites. Invest in a cheap usb drive and take a few at a time. 3) WMA, etc. MP3 is very popular, but it's old technologies by today's standards. Other companies offer same-quality sound in smaller file sizes. WMA is one and you should be able to convert in Windows Media Player. That's just one possibility. I'm not sure how Real Audio compares. Ogg Vorbis is another one, but that one isn't too popular yet. *** note that even though the file sizes are smaller for the same quality it is not going to be a HUGE difference in file size. Also converting from an already compressed MP3 to anything else may cause some loss in quality, even if it's not noticeable. Same-quality for less is from the CD to WMA, etc. *** 4)

I never liked haunted houses. I just don't get people's fascination with it. I don't want to give you a specific age range, but if your son easily gets scared of things, it's probably a bad idea. Only you can give the best guess as to what his possible reaction will be.

This does not have to be an expensive job! We have a few places here in Knoxville that offer cheaper tiles. Usually these places get them as they come in large quantities, so they aren't always in stock. It's probably overstocked stuff. Get a book at your local library to show you the steps you need. IF you want to hire a contractor here are some tips I can give you. Make sure the contractor will agree to this. Many may pay via the job or via the hour. A good amount of time is spend tearing out the old junk, cleaning up, etc. You should be able to do that yourself. Haul it yourself to the local dump too if you can. If you want to do the whole thing yourself just start another thread and I or other members can help walk you through the whole process. Good Luck!

My kids were pretty happy with boxes from the gifts and some cheap toys! lol. The toys that seem to have a thousand bells and whistles never seem to interest them. They're 2 1/2 and 3 1/2.

After I got home I had my wife look into that. Almost NONE of the eBay ones are selling. HAHA. I guess noone wants old technology.
