USAA Credit Check Monitoring ending daily pulls
GordonShemwey replied to kingair312tu's topic in Credit Forum
This is not a USAA service, but a USAA special rated service through a 3rd party. USAA has no control over this vendor other than offering you the rate and connectivity through the USAA account. -
IMHO, if it's past SOL I would send them a FOAD advising them that is a violation of the FDCPA to initial any legal action on a past SOL case. It is also a violation to sell the account to another CA without indicating that the account is past SOL. Simply put, I would just tell them to drop all activity on the account, stop reporting it and remove it from the CRA. They would simply get nothing from this point.

USAA Credit Check Monitoring ending daily pulls
GordonShemwey replied to kingair312tu's topic in Credit Forum
How much you paying now? I was at $12.95 a month. When I called to cancel, they offered to lower it to $6.95 I think. I still canceled. IMHO it's just a BS to jack up the price. "Credit Reports will be available once per month, instead of on an unlimited basis. This frequency meets the needs of the vast majority of members. For those seeking unlimited credit reports, please contact Experian at 1-866-751-1320." So I called. CS said if you want Daily pull from Experian that will be an additional $4.99/mo. If you want all 3 $9.99 on top of the current USAA price of ~$12. -
Charge Off is an accounting requirement. That only means that the account has went from a Good Standing status, to Account not Collectible status. C/O does not mean that there is no debt. Closed account does not mean that there is no longer account. PenFed only closed the account for you to withdraw from, via credit transactions. Neither C/O or Close account prohibit OC from reporting it, and IMHO there is nothing wrong in how it is being reported. You still owe PenFed over $21,000, I'd start worrying about being sued and work of settling this as fast as I can!

This is a pre authorization. Te merchant account put on the purchase. It's a convoluted way the CC system works. It means that the transaction was approved but not posted. In other layman's term, USAA authorized the transactions but they have not paid the merchant yet. Then they do, it would change from "pending" to "posted".

It has nothing to do with insurance. Only the type of membership which will make him and her eligible for a full membership which in turn enable you to become one. No service purchase is required as far as I can recall.

Brand new kohls card reporting only on Equifax. Will the rest follow suits?

Sorry to partially hijack this thread, but how often were you checking the backdoor before you got locked out? I've been afraid to check too often because I don't want to get locked out. one a week or so. Haven;t done in in months though...

ER Visit - They were not able to help
GordonShemwey replied to Fixer Upper's topic in Medical Billing & Medical Collections
The problem with ER is that there is a set fix, rather high fee, use for checking in. It's ludicrous, just like anything else in our, oh so broken, health system. - First thing, ask for itemized billing statement and question everything they put on the chart with what they actually performed (or not). - Second, hospitals can't refuse treatment for un-insured, but they can't also try to charge you the going rate (vs. the negotiated rate had you had insurance). All states have financial aid, which might cut the bill considerable, cancel the bill all together, and/or offer payment plan for remaining balance. But, you gotta ask for both. -
Few weeks back JP Morgan/Chase announced it would cease all lawsuits on credit cards based on the robo signing of a large portfolio of sold debts. To refresh, last year a federal whistle-blower complaint was filed by a former vice president at JPMorgan, who worked on sales of overdue credit-card loans, alleged that bank employees robo-signed paperwork used to seek legal judgments against card users. The executive, Linda Almonte, stated that many JPMorgan account holders owed less on their cards than the company claimed, and that some customers facing legal action had paid their card obligations in full. JPMorgan settled the suit, in which the executive claimed she was fired after alerting the bank that it was missing key legal documents required to sell credit-card debt, last spring after a court refused to dismiss the case. I will not dismiss the claim from Hanna. I though challenge each and every claim they make now and during discovery.

The quickest and easiest escalation would be all the way to the top. Google the email address of Chase CEO and email him explaining exactly what you have described here. Mention that you have not gone anywhere with the back office EVEN if it was, in part, their mistake. See how fast things move from there (allowing for the holidays closures etc.)

Yep, that is what they do. They are treading on the gray area of the FCRA: The can't report incorrectly, but they can sure NOT report, which it what they just did. Count your blessings. The more people try it, the sooner this path will close.
